Sarah Palin Is Pro Amnesty For Illegal Aliens - Univision Interview [Old news, 2008]
Diggers Realm ^ | October 24, 2008

Posted on 08/09/2009 6:56:23 PM PDT by RebelYell1990

Sarah Palin finally came out and made her stance on illegal immigration clear. She is pro amnesty for illegal aliens. In an interview to Univision she stated unequivocally that she is for a pathway to citizenship. In the same interview she says she is against amnesty for illegal aliens. Have your cake and eat it to, I think that is called.

Back on the same day that John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential candidate I started investigating Palin's past on illegal immigration. I invited others to send in anything they found. There was nothing on the record. Many did write in and said that Laura Ingraham said that one time she was talking to Palin and she said she was against amnesty. That was the only statement anywhere that could be found.

Now we know that she is against amnesty, all the while she is for it with a "pathway to citizenship".

You see this is what is wrong with these people. They think they can be on both sides of the issue at once and that simply isn't possible. You are either against amnesty or you are not. If you are for a pathway to citizenship for those who have illegally entered our country then you are pro-amnesty as you have virtually absolved them of all of their illegality.

People have bashed me for questioning "the Palin". They wrote in to say that obviously she is against illegal immigration. This was all wishful thinking and like so many other issues that the politicians have avoided, until they take a clear stance don't assume anything (and even then, if they're only saying it look at their record).

Sarah Palin is in lock-step with John McCain when it comes to amnesty for illegal aliens. Her answers are almost indistinguishable from McCain's, Obama's or even the most pro-illegal alien congressman in the house, Luis Gutierrez, for that matter.

Read it and weep.

Univision

Univision: Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska? Sarah Palin: I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.

Univision: As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported? Sarah Palin: There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant - there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants - not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Univision: Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants? Sarah Palin: No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

Univision: To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants? Sarah Palin: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

...

Univision: What is your strategy? How are you planning to win the latino vote? Sarah Palin: I will tell you, I wish that there were more hours in the day so that we can get out there and to more of the communities with such the strong Latino vote that is out there and really tell them that we desire to work for them. We are asking them to hire us and let us work for them.

Sickening we can't find a real leader in this country who cares about Americans first.

from last month regarding a bill in Alaska about giving illegals a drivers license. This is what she said

Rep.Lynn’s good HB3 Visa/Drivers Lic law:”If u dont have legal right to walk down AKn street, why should u have right to drive same street?”

These Third Party loons just as the far Left are starting early trying to take out Palin, the only person who beat Obama.

Are you serious? Someone takes a stand against ILLEGAL immigration and you say "give it a break" and compare that ILLEGAL immigration to the FOUNDING OF OUR COUNTRY?!?!

What you responded to is the kind of leftist rhetoric that left millions of conservatives reeling in the Bush years. The entire party was infiltrated with liberals, and we all saw the results of that, leaving the Republicans 9 cents short of a dime.

She was for it before she was against it? “

More like McCain was for it, before she was against it.
You can't go bucking your running mate in a presidential election with just 2 weeks to go to the elctions.
McCain was the King of amnesty long before he even knew Sarah Palin existed.
This is McCain's policy. Go harass him for it.

Obviously, Juan McCain didn't get the memo until only recently.

Sadly, too true.

We are not rounding up millions of people into internment camps.

No, but we should be.

The cost alone should indicate that not to mention the horrible parallels in history.

The cost of being a nation with no borders is far higher. As for the parallels of history, they are irrelevant. Either we have borders, or we don't. If we don't then let's just declare the North American Union and stop pretending.

A middle ground can be struck to deal with the current issue.

No. No more middle ground. No more compromise. Middle gounds and compromise are what got us into this mess.

Besides, I don't get any "middle ground" when I violate the law, and I was born here. Why should an invader get special rights?

Politicians let this issue slide for too long. Crack down on future illegals but there needs to be accomodation for a lot of the people that are here, have successful businesses, have families (even extended families, etc.).

Let them re-apply for admission.

Hell, I support strong immigration laws but you cannot intern 10s of millions of people then deport them? How would you do it? Planes, buses, boats, FedEx boxes?

1. On Day X, everyone in the United States has to go to the local courthouse and present legal proof of citizenship -- either a long-form birth certificate, a valid passport, or their naturalization papers.

2. Those whose credentials are verified receive a Citizenship Card with a unique serial number and their thumbprint and signature on it. This can be a simple, paper card -- no digital data strip or other tomfoolerly is required.

3. Laws are written requiring persons to present their card upon transacting any business with federal state, or local governments. This includes the filing of tax returns, drivers license applications or renewals, title transfers, motor vehicle registration, applications for welfare benefits, during traffic stops, change-of-address forms, college financial aid applications, military enlistment, corporate registrations, contracting, everything. The cards are checked by comparison to a master database of fingerprints, serial numbers, and signatures. If any of the three do not match with the database, the bearer is placed under arrest. Anyone arrested for some other crime who cannot prove their legal status is remanded to immigration authorities.

4. Accused invaders are brought before military tribunals on the charge of invading the United States. If found guilty, they are sentenced and bound over for deportation.

5. Convicted invaders with minor children or other dependents are given the choice of a suspended sentence followed by immediate free transportation to their home country with their dependents, or internment for the specified period in a camp with their dependents. (Any dependents who are legal U.S. citizens are free to come and go from the camp at any time.)

6. The assets of each convicted invader are seized by the state of residence and sold at auction. The majority of the proceeds go to the state treasury, to pay for the financial burden created by the invaders which has been borne by the citizens of that state. Another percentage goes to fund the enforcement program. A small percentage is placed in escrow to fund the invader's deportation.

7. U.S. troops return from abroad and are divided back into their state National Guard units. A border fence along the southern frontier is built and manned by these troops. Anyone crossing the border is detained; if they resist, they are killed.

Do you toss Chinese that escaped communism on a boat back to China for execution? How about Syrians or North Koreans?

Political asylum requests are handled through the usual channels.

On and on. This isn’t just Mexicans but a whole host of people from worldwide. And yes, people from England, Canada, Norway, Sweden, etc.

Do you actually know any people from England, Canada, Norway, or Sweden? Well, I do, and let me assure you that they live in fear of ICE. One day over the time specified on the jolly old H-1B is all it takes. Euros get deported all the time! There's no amnesty for white people!

The issue is too complex for simple “toss them into jail” responses. I do NOT support providing welfare for them but reality is what politicians have crafted for us over decades.

In political terms, reality is what we decide its going to be. Given sufficient will, nothing is impossible.

I can see how Obama will win again now. Every so-called conservative will find some reason, even if they have to stretch the truth to get there to not support any one candidate, so Zero wins again.”

Naaaaah.
Way I see it, its waaaaay better to have all these kinds of internecine fights out in the open NOW, with 3 1/2 years to go to the 1012 elections, than to be having nasty fights with only 2 seeks to go to the elections in 2012. This way, we get to trash out the issues, and let these fights run their natural course, before 2012, when we can take full aim at the Great Satan in the White House.

Immigration was only illegal recently. It was the history of this country to encourage immigration for most of its history (big green statue in NYC that attests to that). You do realize that the founders of our country were British?

Yes, when the problem has gotten so bad that you have millions of people here that have to be dealt with then a different solution than ‘internment camps’ is needed. Bring up ‘internment camps’ as a debating point and red sirens go off in my head.

I take it you have never sped on a highway? If not, why don’t you go ahead and offer up the fines gratis since ‘doing the right thing’ shouldn’t have a time limit. Is a speeding ticket the same as illegal immigration? Certainly not but be careful with aboslute moralism: it is a deadly trap.

I am certain that I did not miss your point. You assume “many” will run away. How many is “many”? Half? Half of between 7 and 20 million. Let me give you the low figure. ICE will have to round up 3.5 million if your assumption and my assumption is correct. Both of our assumptions, however, are simply wild, wishful speculation.

If 1000 prisoners escaped from a prison in California, how many law enforcement personnel do you think would be able to round them all up? Just 1000. And how long do you think it would take?

Seriously. The logistics make “rounding up” illegals, in the numbers we know exist, impossible. You can speculate all you like. I don’t oppose you, reality does.
