You would expect the radical leftists on the MSNBC shows or in the Obama administration to use the sexual slur teabagger used against Tea Partiers. By this they show their true colors: admitting that protesting against policies of the POTUS and the federal government is only patriotic and commendable when the government is Republican and the protesters are not.
But now using the slur against the thousands of patriotic Americans who have actually consulted a U.S. Constitution some point over the past few months has become fair game to the compliant mainstream media. Doug Ross [via Gateway Pundit] reports on the use of this slur by CBS News blogger Charles Cooper. (Yes, the same

The teabagger slur is around to stay and it will only become more mainstream over time. I even heard a member of the movement use it to refer to others the other day ... He was a bit silver so he may not know what it means. I doubt that given the number of complaints about it though.

Charles Cooper is gay too?

Charles Cooper rides a high horse.

Chickenhawks (a term they used to decry support for Bush's wars) was also a homosexual slang term.
The Left engages in juvenile name calling.

The time for civil disagreement is past. Get that thru your skull. Gone.
They will not rest until people like me are brought into subjucation. I will resist and promote freedom and liberty as best as I can.
But the two cannot co exist.
In the end there can be just one.

To be honest I'm not even sure what you are responding to. I didn't say that anything bothered me in my comment.

The teabagger slur is around to stay and it will only become more mainstream over time. I even heard a member of the movement use it to refer to others the other day ... Look - in real life "slurs" are fought with peer pressure. We don't use terms like "fags" or "niggers" and there's no reason to accept "teabaggers". Would you suggest that "nigger" was a slur that's "around to stay" because at one time rude people used it?? I'm sorry, but you've gone over the edge on this one...

Well ... I think it IS around to stay for a while and the black community has developed it's own means of dealing with it. Some have "reclaimed it"... some have to chosen to educate others about the history of the term... so on and so forth. The point is that they've all come up with ways of dealing with it on their own.
I think the term "teabagger" is like that. I think it's past the time when it can just be shut, down, killed quickly, and forgotten by next month. That can be done sometimes with quick action. If it's too late for that though then that means we're at the "what do we do about it now" stage.
That was ALL my comment said - that it's not going to fade away in the next few weeks they way other slurs sometimes do in politics. I didn't say anything bothered me. I didn't say that people should do nothing in response. I didn't say anything except that I don't think it's going away. That's a fairly value neutral observation.

If you try using the term "nigger" in middle American you'll find yourself fired. So pleeeeze - don't give me the liberal crap -
Members of the MSM who use a term gay men use for putting another man's "ba--s in their mouth are horrible.
They seem to be doing their best to come up with the ugliest names in the culture to call us.
Can you imagine the amount of outrage there would be in liberal-land if people on FOXNews referred to all democrats as "niggers"? On TV - in primetime?
Calling conservatives "teabaggers" is the same thing.
A member of the media who uses that term should suffer the same fate as a member of the media who uses the term "nigger".

You know what I've noticed. I've noticed that I haven't disagreed with you about a single thing. Not even your last comment. You seem to be angrily defending a point I'm not disagreeing with you on.
Pushing to hold people accountable for using the term is one way of "dealing with it." Making sure people know that the term comes from a slang term for a gay sex act, as you did here, is in that list also. Both are good things. There are other things that can be done as well. All of them recognize that the term isn't going away next week and that people need to decide what to do about that. There needs to be something more done than just pointing at people using it and saying "unacceptable!" ... what action backs this up? Are people writing the network to complain? Writing the journalist himself?
What's wrong with saying that because that's all I've said and I haven't disagreed with you about anything. Although you are very disagreeable in the way you present it.

Writing the journalist himself? Look - you need to get real here. If a TV journalist called Hillary a "liberal cunt" they would be fired.
And rightly so.
And news people who use the term, "nigger" would be fired.
And rightly so.
And newspeople who use the term "teabaggers" tell us to beg them to stop and snicker and use it again.
NO ONE has to WRITE THE NETWORKS to get them to stop using the term "cunt". "Journalists" know they can't offend liberals.
You think citizens should have to plead with a journalists to not call them derogatory names.
No we don't agree.
Liberals understand when THEY are offended and they move very quickly. They need to take out that big magnifying glass they use on us and take a quick look at themselves. They might be surprised they have morphed into control freak ugly.

You're very right. Now get the networks to fire them for out. Simpering about it on FreeRepublic won't do a thing to accomplish that. What exactly is wrong with saying "it's around for the long haul - time to start digging in against it"?

Maybe a poster at a health care “townhouse meeting” that says, “If you don’t say “NIGGER”, don’t say TEABAGGER”

Actually, I like the idea. People might stop reading at NIG once they can guess the word though. It's radioactive Perhaps a comparison to a different slur? Keep the bluntness though. Avoid overly wordy signs or signs that have to be read on both sides to understand.
