Obama Team Fighting About His Failing Middle East Policy
Middle East Monitor/The Lid ^ | 7/31/09 | The Lid

President Obama's Middle East policy is in ruins. While the US continues to press Israel for a settlement freeze (and now a freeze on Jerusalem) every element of Obama's Middle East plan is falling apart. Syria and Iran aren't looking for engagement. He has turned the Israeli populace against him and strengthened the hand of Prime Minister Netanyahu. At the same time he has eroded his own support among American Jews and other US friends of Israel.

The news continues to be bad, Obama's perceived good friend Saudi Arabia, answered no to the President's request for a peace gesture and the President of the Palestinian Authority uses Obama's settlement pressure as his "out" from re-entering negotiations.

What the President and his advisers perceived as a minor concession, a settlement freeze, was not perceived by Israel as a minor concession. This was a major error by the administration. Their insistence for a freeze and the constant public berating of the Jewish State has turned the Israeli population against Obama, especially the Israeli left who the President would look to for support.

His public blasting of Israel has weakened his support among American Jews who initially "bought into" his pledge that he was a "friend" of Israel. Especially when the news came out that Obama was breaking a pledge made to Israel by the Bush administration.

Not only his is strategy falling apart but it is causing rifts within his foreign policy team, with the leftists trying to keep the pressure on Israel with regards to the settlements, and the centrist pushing to find a compromise:

obamanations ideology i.e., socialist/communicism/marxism is what he bases his “plans” on. Not what is real, or what is TRUE, but what HE WANTS

there is no way that this Counterfeit is smarter than others... from what I observe, he is not smart at all, but really a retarded 20 year old chicago street organizer.

This is from an interview from one who was his mentor:
One of Obama’s early mentors in the Alinsky method was Mike Kruglik, who had this to say to an interviewer of The New Republic, about Obama:

“He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards. As with the panhandler, he could be aggressive and confrontational. With probing, sometimes personal questions, he would pinpoint the source of pain in their lives, tearing down their egos just enough before dangling a carrot of hope that they could make things better.”

Watch Obama work a crowd at a town hall meeting. He comes out, says a few words in greeting and then begins his laundry list of all the stuff that’s wrong with America, getting the audience all revved up. When the crowd is engaged and sufficiently “pissed off,” Obama presents a solution to the all the things that are “pissing them off” — the chosen one, the anointed one, the Obama — as president.

Alinsky’s goal was to slowly turn the United States into a Communist dictatorship; to this end he tried to convince various groups of poor people and labor unions to push for legislation in that direction; he did this by appealing to their self-interest — whether valid or not — instead of using charismatic leadership — but now we have Obama, who is skilled in the Alinsky method and charismatic.

The ultimate disagreement will be between Obama and Rahm Emanuel. Rahm will balk at the destruction of Israel. I always figured that Obama got Emanual out of the House and Hillary out of the Senate so they could not oppose him as they served at the pleasure of the President.

Don’t assume because Rahm is Jewish that he cares a ton about Israel. Lots of people turn against their own for power and money. And given what a twerp he is, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

Other than the economy, this will label his years in office. We don’t see this in the media as that important, but it will be if Iran and Israel get down with nukes.

I look at Rahm’s family and have a hard time believing that he would betray them as he might betray his country or what little religion he may have. If he betrays Israel I hope his family stomps him...

As far as I’m concerned, Rahm is “George Soros lite.”
