"Birthers" need to learn how to strike back at the MSM

The MSM and much of the Beltway establishment - GOP and Dem - has declared war on the "Birthers", but most of the latter group isn't fighting back in an effective way. That's unfortunate, since this is a golden opportunity to discredit the MSM due to all their lies and misleading statements about this issue. (If you don't understand the impact the MSM has on millions of Americans or you don't want to discredit them or you aren't willing to do a little work to discredit them, feel free to move on to the next thread.)

The way to discredit them is easy to state: tell the truth and at the same time show others how a specific reporter isn't telling the truth. Obviously, it's a lot more difficult in practice, but it's hardly impossible.

For a specific example, see this post from yesterday. In that post, I attempted to show how Howard Kurtz was misleading his viewers. And, I designed that post in such a way that others would be able to find it: it's currently in the first page of Google search results for his name plus the name of his show. Unfortunately, on that thread I didn't exactly get the backup I was looking for, such as replies offering other examples of Kurtz being misleading. Instead, I got an embarrassing graphic, someone playing the stock "red herring" card, and someone else criticizing my use of the phrase "not so much" (?!). None of those exactly help my attempts to show others - not just those who are members of this site - that he's wrong.

For a current example of what you can do, please watch this video about Howard Kurtz. If it gets enough views initially, it might make one of Youtube's lists-of-the-day and get even more. And, if it gets high enough ratings and enough views, it might turn up near the top of Youtube search results for his name. Also, please use the email addresses in the video description to contact his editors and let them know you know. And, for extra credit, Digg my post about this here and Reddit it here.

The goal of all of the above is to make him realize that his credibility is on the line and that he needs to issue a correction. If we can get a media figure like him to issue a correction, that would not only take the wind out of the MSM's sails, but it might force them to start doing real reporting.

I’ll try not to be a total blockhead.

I’m only saying I think we should be careful accepting Coulter’s word as gospel. She gave her opinion, but never backed it up with facts pertaining to the birth certificate issue.

She essentially said a lot of other people think it’s bogus, so therefore it must be bogus. That’s not a good standard. If she knows something more about this, she should tell us what it is.

I just hope it turns out to be true....but I think we are chasing a ghost.

I am agnostic on the issue, however, any reporter that claims with a moral certitude that Obama was born in Hawaii, I asked a simple question, “Which hospital?”

Every article usually has the email address of the reporter, so, I tell them that if they can’t answer such a simple question, they are lousy at their profession.
