Here is fascinating video from MSNBC's Morning Joe today where a panel of the regulars got into a rather animated back-and-forth about the arrest of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates by a Cambridge, Massachusetts police officer, and President Obama's saying the Cambridge police "acting stupidly."
The panel appeared to wind up divided on the issue by race, with all the African-American panelists flatly saying the officer was wrong and being totally defensive of Gates and the remarks of President Obama. Mike Barnacle and Mika Brzezinski tried to challenge those assumptions and defended the officer as having a job to do and reminding everyone of the fact Gates was reportedly yelling at and berating the officer as being a "racist," even to the point of following the officer out of the house and continuing to yell at him when the officer was leaving. It was after that the arrest was made.
The divisions on this MSNBC panel, which is usually uniformly supportive of Obama, shows just how divisive an issue this is becoming. . . . . (Watch Video)
