I have racked my brain to try to figure out who else should be included on the list of figures that conservatives should support and encourage to run for the 2012 GOP nomination.
Pawlenty? Milquetoast
Mitt? RomneyCare flipflopper
Barbour? Sabotaged eminent domain reform
Jindal? Needs to start shaving first.
Huck? playing his cards right, but can he be trusted?
Newt? Sybil
Perry? Mandatory vaccinations, anyone?
Sanford? Stepped on his John Thomas
However, if Palin, Hunter, DeMint and Pence were to be the choices, then we will have forced the GOP beyond the RINOfest that was 2008, which resulted in the predictable outcome.
Hunter gets my full support if he runs. DeMint is next, then Pence & Palin.
However, it would behoove us to discourage any attempt by the GOP moneymen to force feed us another Rudy McRomney Happy Meal for 2012.
Will talk radio get out in front this time and actively promote the conservative candidates?
I still haven't tuned back in to Hannity after his relentless efforts to convince me that black is white last go 'round.
-Pawlenty
Won in Minnesota / Not conservative enough?
-Romney
Good manager, better than Obama / RomneyCare not working out, JimRob hates him
-Barbour
Handled Katrina well / relatively unknown, comes off as a generic southerner
Huckabee
Great on social issues / Not a conservative on economics
-Gingrich
Great idea man / Hasn't won a political fight since 1995
-Jindal
Brutally competent, potentially the best candidate / poor performance on TV, needs image makeover
-Sanford
Are you kidding me? / Are you kidding me???
-Hunter
Strongly conservative / Duncan who? He got like three votes, you can't run for President from the House
-Pence
See Hunter, above
-Palin
A true star, if she bones up on issues outside her comfort zone / faces an image problem she MUST overcome
I think Hunter really did best in all the debates last year,. I am still not sure why he just couldn't gain any traction with voters. I have my doubts as to whether he can do any better in 2012 than he did in 2008.
We will see I guess.
I wouldn't rule out Newt. He has been very active and vocal in opposing recent excesses by the Democratic party.
I believe that he had a lot to do with the “drill here, drill now” drive and also with the tea parties. Can anyone tell me if this is so?
Also, I wouldn't rule out Jindal, especially for VP.
Never had a chance.
Willard Brutus Romney cowardly attacked Gov. Palin and her children.
Mitt should be ostracized.
Who benefits most from Sanford meltdown? Californian (that's right) Mitt Romney
"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"
"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"
"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"
That's going to be tough thing to happen. conservatives are about 30 % of the party. If the RNC back someone else, they will get the money
Just look what 0bama did to Hillary Clinton, on account of the vast amounts of money he raised.
Obama out raised Hillary for one reason and one reason only. Foreign contributions.
I would bet everything I own that the DNC never counted on Obama beating Hillary. Few people know the Obama campaign never used any DNC money to run their state by state offices, to keep Hillary/DNC spies out
really ? Her poll numbers are improving rapidly now
Michelle Bachman/Jim DeMint
Now there’s a ticket!
What are the Republicans doing to prevent primary voting by democrats and moderates this time?
Nothing, of course. that is why we need to convince the 4 I mentioned to run, and the RINOs to stay out of the race.
True. There were some cordial exchanges. But that was drowned out by the calls to have me banned for life. LOL
Conservatives make up over 30% of the entire country(there is a poll somewhere here on FR about it), so they are bound to be more than 30% of the Republican Party, no?
” If the RNC back someone else, they will get the money”
They won't get that money in the early stages of the first primaries. And the RNC have to spread out their money to hundreds of candidates for congress. And lots of cheesed of coinservatives are not gonna be giving any money to the RNC anyeways. I doubt if they are gonna be able to match a well financed, well run Palin machine. To me the most important thing about Palin resigning, is that she is going to be able to go flat out and very early, to start raising money, tons of money, to go against the 0bama cash machine in 2012. Its going to be a long hard tough fight, no mistake.
Um, how?
Concise and to the point. Pretty much covers it.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned Mitch Daniels, Governor of Indiana.
I filter out the non-executives. Daniels and Jindal are at the top. Contrast how they run their state to what Obama is doing.
All the congressmen split the conservative vote. I’m not interested in seeing anyone in 2012 that was running in 2008, for president.
By building the support for the conservatives early, and by convincing talkers like Hannity, Rush, Ingraham, to push them early. I was heartened to hear Glenn Beck slam RomneyCare yesterday.
Yeah, that was Mitt’s and Huck’s and Rudy’s and Gilmore’s and Tommy Thompson’s claim to fame. Executive experience.
So too did Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton have it.
In other words, it means nothing.
Tell me how well Hunter did? His son won his seat, that is how well he did. (something, but not even close to the big prize.)
Those candidates would be filtered out in round 2!
You can’t compare Mitt/Huck/Ruday/Gilmore/Thompson to Daniels/Jindal
Palin for President. Deconstruct the left and wipe out the RINOs.
