PRINCETON, NJ -- Governor Palin's resignation -- announced last Friday -- fueled speculation that she may be setting up a run for president in 2012. A new USA Today/Gallup poll asked several questions and the results were very interesting.
She devotes the next 3 years to travel, raising funds, helping conservatives win and building a power base. She chooses the right running mate. Haley barbour will be termed out just in time. He doesnt help in many of the states up for grabs, but 3 years from now, we might be so desperate to get a conservative into the WH as we were with Reagan that it wont matter much. Barbour has been there, big time, in the RNC in the revolution and has a lot of clout - might take FL. Lets also not forget there is a good chance that OH is not stolen again, PA grabs its guns and bibles and heads for the voting booth and that all of the conservatives that sat on their asses in the last election go and vote for a real candidate that shares their values.
New Mexico 5, not ungettable, Florida 27, absolutely gettable, Ohio 20, Pennsylvania 21, and Virginia 13 and North Carolina 15. Done.
and that’s with most of the public not tuned in to right-leaning media hearing only the smears and not from Sarah herself....very interesting!
Well this shows us a few things, 1st she can win the 2012 election and 2nd 18% of people that call themselves republicans are idiots.
er...that was supposed to be 28%, not 18%..hit the wrong key.
That web page is incredibly annoying, on my browser at least. As I try to scroll, it constantly keeps refreshing and returning me to the top of the page!
And that’s after all the mud the press have thrown. For both the primaries and the general, she simply has to stay competitive up to the debates and then do well. As long as she beats Romney in the primary and he and his camp stay civil, however, I wouldn’t mind sticking him on her ticket to help with some of those ‘big city sophisticate’ votes—if that’s what it takes to unite the party. (He’d be too old to take over after 8 years, so we’d be avoiding the Poppy Bush/John Major problem.)
These are the freaks who believe that pro-life politicians should be publicly slow-roasted over an open flame.
and this poll is Gallup...not exactly Palin friendly
Forget Haley Barbour, get someone of her own generation and possibly from the upper Midwest.
Well most republicans will vote for her as nominee, even if they have to hold their noses :).
Indepedents 44%. Just work on getting it to 55% or more. Not too hard, especially the way Obama is going.
17% Democrats? That is very interesting. Who are they? Women, men, both, hiliary supporters? That is worth investigating. That is what the republican hierarchy should be looking into.
Good news though, good support. Great week all round for Palin IMO.
I was reading this article on the Pew Research Poll recently, 73% support among Republicans. The article broke down the numbers to Very Favourable, something that had not been made available by Pew Research. It was about 30% Very Favourable among Republicans for Palin. That is gvery ood depth, strong support. Somehow I think those details were ommitted for a reason, I can’t see Romney having much depth in his numbers. The core VF support BTW was similar to what Obama had with democrats in late 2007.
MSM fear her, Democraps fear her, and above all else, establishment Republicans fer her. In Sarah’s case, you can translate fear into loath.
What will happen is that in 2012, with our economy in the crapper as well as our foreign relations shot, a woman running against the Messiah is a winnable situation.
The novelty of an incompetent and Marxist Black President has worn off everyone but the MSM.
Palin, with three years to campaign without any restrictions will knock this fool off his perch.
Remember this poll was taken right after her resignation announcement. if the numbers are this favorable now, what couid they be like when her book comes out and at the prelude to the 2010 midterms.
Michele Bachman?
Good point. And due to many Republican operatives stating that Palin couldn’t be considered for 2012 (CK etc), it would have had some influence on both favorables and first choice.
I really think Palin has made the right move with her resignation. It would have been a death by a thousand cuts over 1 - 2 years otherwise. Now she can maybe make some gains personally, with national issues and with voters.
You Betcha!(winks)
She needs to also make public appearances in medium to small towns and cities, and concentrate on those that hold the same principals and who are fed up with politicians on both sides.
She should not listen to any sitting politician, or the likes of “Mikey the RINO” Steele
