Governor Palin Trusts Her Instincts, Smells Blood & It Isn’t Her Own

Governor Palin’s decision to resign as governor of Alaska so that she could, “advance in another direction,” was a brilliant political move.

She senses, or sees, or grasps what few in politics understand today. Americans are tired of the same old, same old — be it Republican, Democratic, or even Green Party.

Welcome to FR.

So, you think she'll depart the GOP to do whatever she intends to do?

If she announces a run for president, the big question to her will be “how do we know you won’t quit?”

She’s a hunter so I’ll take her sniffing skills over a DC pundit’s.

Sometimes “leaving” is the best option. For instance, I wish the current pres would resign before he completely destroys this nation.

Because she is not a quitter. Quitting means giving up. She, obviously, did not give up. She STRATEGICALLY resigned as Governor.

Yep! Just like Obambi or Hillery? They did not have the guts to quit their positions - weak - eh? Those two did not do krap for their constituents for over 18 months of campaigning! That really took some commetmitment - EH?

She didn’t QUIT, she resigned for the best interests of Alaska.

Besides, there’s blood in the water . . . 0bama ‘correcting’ Biden . . . HJR 5 . . . Centrist Democrats not following ‘party’ line.

She’s savvy, intelligent, and willing to show her Birth Certificate and College Transcripts.

I was nonetheless concerned when I read her lawyer say the Letterman incident was a factor. If she cannot stand up to him, how can she represent us as POTUS against Putin, Ahmadinejad, Chavez, etc.? To me a POTUS needs to have thicker skin, and be above those sorts of petty tricks. She fell for it.

To me the best response, if asked, would have been, “Lots of stupid people say lots of stupid things, and if I spent all my time responding to them all I’d have no time to run the state”.

Her answer can be much like Reagan's on leaving the Democrat Party: "I didn't leave the Republican Party, it left me.".

She did stand up to him and he apologized, it was a weak apology but probably the best you can get from scum. She has to look out for her children first and foremost. She is not running away from her antagonists, she is about to go for the jugular now that she has dispensed with the ball and chain of being Alaska’s governor.

You seem to keep forgetting how she got to where she is today, by standing up to powerful forces and winning. Sometimes resigning your post is the best strategy to meet long term goals when that position becomes a roadblock. She is no shrinking violet, unlike most pubbies today.

Certainly she is the “ballsiest” pubbie out there, at least in the public spotlight. Mitt and Nannybee are pathetic in comparison.

Like this? "I didn't leave the Alaska Governor's office, the Alaska Governor's office left me." Doesn't quite have the same Reaganesque ring to it.

I like Governor Palin, but she's really got to redeem herself from the trashing she has received. It's not fair how she has been treated, but life ain't fair.

She might just remake the GOP.

Palin left office because she could not recover from the partisan picayune ethics attacks while holding office. The legal system in Alaska offers no remedy to end the stream of false accusations that were being filed by the Palin Haters.

Michael Steele is welcoming Palin to the lower 48 in her new role as Republican Cheer leader, a political whip for the conservative voters. She has the charisma and backbone to go head to head with Pelosi, Reid and Obama on Cap and Tax and Obamacare. If she can rally 20,000 people in states around the country, especially where there are vulnerable Democrat congressmen, she will be far more valuable to the Republican Party, than stuck up in Alaska.

I would love to see a President serve 1-1/2 terms, then announce they they've accomplished all they feel able to accomplish, that they have a very capable VP, and are passing the ball. What do you think are the chances of that happening in your lifetime?

It's possible that PalinPAC will raise more money than the Republican Party, and render Michael Steele obsolete.

Whether that will matter depends on what happens in 2010 and how much Obama and the Dems over reach. If she can help get enough like minded Republicans elected in 2010, they will owe her big time and support her for the nomination in 2012. By that time, if Obama has turned the public against him and the Dems, winning the GOP nomination could very well land her in the White House. Right now it is too early to tell. If she is as politically savvy as she appears to be, and has any interest in running in 2012, she needs to get started ASAP on helping to get like mined Republicans elected in 2010.
