NINE has offended fans of the late Michael Jackson by scheduling an old documentary about child molestation allegations hours before his memorial service is broadcast live tomorrow morning.

If reports are correct and his family is burying him before the public memorial the film will be screened at the same time he is being buried.

At 12.35am Wednesday Nine has programmed a repeat of a much-maligned documentary “Michael Jackson: What Really Happened”, which already screened last week when it was falsely advertised as a documentary about his death.

“With the world still in disbelief at the death of Michael Jackson...a special presentation that focuses on the controversy that plagued his life,” Nine publicity said.

The networks have been falling over themselves to put old documentaries, interviews and concerts to air and they have rated.

Last night a concert on Seven The Last Time had an audience of 1.2 million in the five capital cities alone, helping Seven to win the night.

On Saturday the Today show’s Richard Wilkins and Karl Stefanovic co-hosted a special which was panned by the critics but it rated so well it helped Nine win the week.

“Please call NINE immediately urging them not to play it at that time,” “Kashi” write on leading television blog TV Tonight.

“I called to complain and got through immediately please do the same… simply because it inappropriate timing… And will hurt a lot of people who are mourning. and it is completely discrespectful.”

Also on TV Tonight “Lisa” wrote: “Channel 9, why the need to play this so called ‘documentary’ at all? The timing isn’t going to change the fact that this program was just a disgusting tabloid vilification, designed for the purpose of causing as much damage as possible in any way they could think of.”

Hey, the truth hurts, but it is the truth nevertheless.

Free country right?

To place his casket on a stage is appaling to me. Wow.

I find the swooning and salivating over the sick scumbag MJ to be quite offensive.

There is something to be said for letting the dead be dead...MJ was never convicted, but he did settle out of court, and was clearly a mentally ill person.

The documentary should go ahead and air in my opinion. MJ was not a god.

Seems to be like the people who don’t want to hear MLK Jr. plagiarized much of what he “wrote” and “said”. They don’t care about the facts...their fantasy about a person is set, and no amount of truth will change their minds.

I don’t know if he was a scumbag but he was definitely messed up. Regardless, somebody mentioned yesterday that it’s extremely sad that our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan who die get nearly ZERO attention. Our brave boys and girls are getting ignored even in death, while a drugged out musician gets a hero’s celebration.

OK reading between the lines 1.2 mill is good, but not stellar. It normally wouldn't put the show in the top 20.

"helping Seven to win the night" says to me it didn't win the slot.

As it was up against "Top Gear" which usually rates in the top 10 of the week, and that was a first run of the Top Gear where Clarkson tries to destroy a Toyota pick-up, and fails, second was the best 7 could hope for.

Desparate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters won the night for them
