Obama compares Michael Jackson to Elvis, Sinatra, John Lennon
The Washington Examiner ^ | 07-07-2009 | Ben Feller

"I think we saw it when Elvis died; in a different way you saw it when Frank Sinatra died; you saw it when John Lennon died," Obama told CBS. "There are certain figures in our popular culture that just capture our people's imaginations and in death they become even larger."

I'm a little surprised B-HO didn't spout the same historical idiocy that many others have this week -- that Jacko was "the first black entertainer to crossover and appeal to a large white audience."

Then again, most music fans these days have (at best) only a vague idea who Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, and Jimi Hendrix were.

Maybe I'm making too much of a leap here, but this strikes me as symptomatic of Collectivist thinking. Individuals may be notable, but there are so many of them, they are are somewhat interchangeable. In the end, who cares? [/s]

Obama is like FDR. He's like JFK. He's like Lincoln. He's like Jesus. He's like every great person who ever lived.

Michael Jackson? He's like Elvis. He's like Sinatra.

Why can't Obama be Obama? Why can't Michael Jackson be Michael Jackson? Isn't each individual special, unique, and worth cherishing? I don't think the Left can really go there because is starts to encroach on the "sanitized" view of abortion and the view of each human as just a bunch of cells.

The difference was that Presley, Lennon and Sinatra were not sexual deviates, pedophiles and perverts.

Sinatra would have kicked Michael Jackson's ass for being a perverted freak.

And I think that you could have hooked up a generator to Elvis' grave, when Michael Jackson married his daughter. Would have powered Graceland, easily.

John Lennon would have had another bong hit and said "Who?".

Three of those artists were not pedophiles.

It’s yet another form of black victimhood.

If Michael Jackson isn’t as big a legend as (pick your favorite legend - Elvis, Sinatra whatever) then that’s RACISM!

I’ve seen this very same opinion expressed on message boards.

I agree. Jackson wrote and produced many of his own songs and was more than a pretty boy who sang well like Elvis and Sinatra were. The latter two were little more than the Brittany Spears of their times

"Except the other three liked GIRLS."

You're pushing that assertion in the case of Yoko Ono.

MJ was warped probably starting from his own childhood and upbringing.

But then his celebrity, wealth, fame and power magnified it and made it all even worse than before.

It is the stuff Greek tragedies are made of.

Such an enormously musically talented man with a God given talent to entertain people and to sing so beautifully and then having it ruined by becoming a sexual deviate and not having a clear sexual identity and psychologically tortured tormented and twisted. It is a damn shame. But as talented as MJ was, he could not hold a candle to Presley, Sinatra and Lennon.

Poor, so sad, mentally sick President Obama. Poor Michael Jackson.

I say the above because it is probably much, much easier to have Michael Jackson's birth hospital admit that Jackson was born there than it is have Obama's birth hospital in Hawaii publicly admit that Obama was born there.

Sad. So sad, this Prsident Obama.
