With the price tag of Obama-care likely to exceed $1 trillion, moderate Democrats face a simple choice. They can jump off the cliff with the president, or they can stay true to the principles that they have espoused throughout their careers, wrote an adviser to Republican John McCain.
Matt Drudge is making a big deal about what Kevin Hassett wrote about Californias problems becoming President Obamas problems.
But what Hassett said about the presidents takeover of the health insurance industry is what is the real news. We all know Obamanomics is tanking because he borrowed what will be $2 trillion by the end of the year at a time when the government should be trimming its debt.
Hassett, director of economic-policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute, advised McCain last year. To be sure, Hassett got to the heart of the presidents economic woes.
Obama has taken George W. Bushs inattention to deficits and elevated it to an art form, Hassett wrote.
That is quickly turning the American dollar into the American peso.
The upside is the public is worried about debt now and expanding the governments entitlements. Forget 60 votes in the Senate to pass a health care entitlement, the administration will be lucky to get the 50 needed to get Vice President Joe Biden to break the tie for a trillion-dollar baby.
Senator Mary Landrieu said that she is not open to a public option that will compete with private insurance, Hassett wrote.
Many other Democratic Senators, including Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, and Tom Carper, also oppose the public option. As the cost estimates increase and support wanes, the Senate Finance Committee is even going as far as to pursue its own health-care plan, meaning that the health-care end game is now in sight.

I call it AuschwitzCare.
AuschwitzCare is how they intend to "save" social security. Kill the old and sick and then they won't need to consume resources any more. Of course, the leftists think that they'll not be victims because they are oh so much smarter than the bourgeois rabble.
well Schmucky Schumer over the weekend said the public option is “non-negotiable”, so someone is getting played here
Cost? The cost will be whatever Hussein instructs the media to report.
I’ve been saying the exact same things. They will deny care for anyone over 60 with the exception of members of Congress.
