On this Independence Day, I am so very proud of all those who have chosen to serve our great nation and I honor their selflessness and the sacrifices of their families, too.
If I may, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours and share my thoughts with you.
First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaskas best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities.
For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. We have accomplished so much and theres much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier Ive never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments.
The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the politics of personal destruction. How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; its about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because its right for all, including your family.
I shared with you yesterday my heartfelt and candid reasons for this change; Ive never thought I needed a title before ones name to forge progress in America. I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness!
God bless you! And I look forward to making a difference with you!
Sarah
I’m tellin’ ya, she steps out, wishes everyone well on this 4th, expresses some great thoughts and the ENERGY IS RISING again! Incredible. All she has to do is SHOW UP. God bless you back Sarah, you and the family!
Uhm no.
Gov. Palin sees Sen.John McCain as an American hero...she said so many times and again yesterday. It would be beneath her to address him any other way. Either your or my opinion is simply not important.
On your marks, Sarah...
Ever hear of CLASS, that is what Sarah is all about, being a CLASS act. McCain chose her, she is showing him respect, the more respect she shows for McCain, the bigger the dork McCain looks for treating her like garbage.
“Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments.”
Another thing Sarah and I have in common! I won’t bash McCain, either.
I am certain Sarah is not throwing in the political towel. I don’t know what her future plans are, but I am sure she will be in politics.
That is HUGE when it comes to bundling and fundraising. Hate to sound prosaic, but fundraising is like making sausage, and she either learns now or Obama kicks her ass.
Best,
Chris
It may have just been high lites...That’s why I asked if anyone else noticed.
McCain introduced her to the nation.
I have kept a copy of the Los Angeles Times in which she was announced as the VP choice.
Yes, she often has highlights in her hair. Look i.e. at the pics above.
We have another Reagan in the making with an added dose of Maggie Thatcher Thank God!
In the most beautiful package, to boot!
Mayor Palin 1996
Governor Palin 2008
Senator Palin 2010
President Palin 2012
Shrewd and the her war chest is growing.
Hallelujah!
She’s soo freakin awsome!
Man I am so excited and optimistic. Could the symbolism of Independence Day be more apropo. I don’t think so.
You don’t know what “kind, insightful comments” McCain may have offered her. It’s quite likely that they do have a good personal relationship, despite the backstabbing by some former campaign aides. By all accounts McCain was quite taken with her when he first met her, which led him to choose her. And she has never expressed anything but gratitude to McCain for choosing her. Exactly what I would expect from someone with Governor Palin’s class.
Damning with faint praise...
I’m not sure on the Senator part for 2010. I think she might do better at working to help others in 2010, and get some real conservatives in the senate. Senators typically don’t have the best record at getting into the White House. I think Obama was one of a very few.
And - by staying out of the senate, she remains “untainted” by Washington politics.
Here is the speech I would have written for her:
As much as I love Alaska, and am committed to the folks up here that elected me - I love America even more. Up here in Alaska, with a new governor that knows the ropes - well be okay.
But I cant say the same for the folks that I met last year on the campaign trail. Folks in Michigan, Iowa, and New York. I know that Alaskas new governor will be listening to the folks in Alaska. But it is clear that President Obama, and the Democrat House and Senate are NOT listening to the citizens of this great Republic.
I intend to lend my voice to theirs, and, on the eve of this Independence Day, vow to bring Liberty back to the people of this great country.
