Here's my suggestion for the key topic she should be focused on: ENERGY.
Outside of glaciers and polar bears, it's what Alaska is known for. It's also the area of Palin's greatest expertise. It also happens to be topic number one for most Americans. Every time they fill their gas tank, every time they pay their electric bills, every time they discuss "cap and trade," every time they see windmills on the horizon and know - in their hearts - that these ugly machines are not going to be the solution, they will think about Sarah Palin.
She will talk persuasively about the Democrats' refusal to tap the billions of barrels of oil in Alaska's wildlife refuge, about denying Americans access to clean coal in Utah, about the refusal of congress to explore for oil and gas off our coasts even as foreign companies are doing exactly that, about congress' refusal to allow the expansion of clean and proven nuclear power plants, the government's wrongheaded policies that make us rely more and more on foreign sources of energy even as they claim to be doing exactly the opposite.
She will be doing something that she does best: connecting with the American people in terms that they can understand. And she will be pointing out that the problem is a bipartisan one. She will have the opportunity to take on pandering and corruption on both sides of the aisle, just as she did in Alaska.
If she does that, she will be able to re-create the coalition that Ronald Reagan had, and we'll see the blue collar crowd who went Democrat in the last election come back to the Republican side.

Just listened to that dirty rat Rove politely tear Palin’s move apart on FOX NEWs.
Why the hell FOX keeps that rodent Rove on anyway puzzles me.
He was the architect of policies like failure to enforce our border laws and immigration laws which contributed to the defeats in 2006 and 2008.
Can’t stand the man.
Well, I guess Karl won’t be getting any job offers from the Palin family anytime soon.
I listened to her entire announcement. It was honorable, it was direct, and it punctuated the insane politics of our day...it also punctuated her personal commitment to fight, and to do so when it would not distract further from her job as Governor and the foundation she has built there.
I am proud of her and support her. She is a great American.
I think Sarah has just turned, like a fed-up mama Bear, on her detractors. She has put things in order, she has left them in the hands of capable people, and she has now turned to face her enemies directly.
...and I think they are going to be sorry. We have smelled the fear in them for a long time. Good on her!
I believe she will assist others greatly in 2010, and will run herself in 2012...and she has my full support.
GO SARAH GO!

Ya, know what we could do as Freepers and conservatives is keep the trash off her back like the RINO’s and let her do her thing. She has a plan, She is not dumb, she did not do this on the spirm of the moment. LOL
I like Karl Rove. He is brilliant....
I like Sarah Palin very much, but I do think “resigning” midway...is not a good thing politically. Alot of ppl agree.
I agree that oil and energy would be an excellent focus for her. I don’t think she quit because she’s preparing for a presidential run, but simply because she realized that she was personally going to accomplish nothing more in the next few years because she and the State of Alaska would be so handicapped by these attacks, suits, etc. I think she realized she had become a liability to the state of Alaska and was making it more vulnerable to attacks from what another poster described as the “red green coalition,” the Marxists and the environmentalists.
Bambi is going to be exerting a lot of power through this coalition, because things like “cap and trade” will give him enormous and staggeringly intrusive powers in every aspect of our lives. I think that Palin could be the one to work through an indirect approach - say with a petroleum group - to head this off.
Sarah is going to set herself up to run as a 3rd party candidate in 2012. The Republicans crapped on her, she owes them nothing. This is going to get very interesting before its all over. She has my complete support...GO SARACUDA!
She will be tackling the issues of our nation, people have called for her to do so, she knew that the timeline is small so she did the RIGHT thing. The policies she has implemented will carry on under the second in command.
I am a contractor if I have a smaller job that I know one of my employees can take over then I will move on to the larger more pressing ones.
Quitting is giving up. I do not see that in anything she said. She is an American first and Alaskan second and right now America is in need of MAJOR correction and governance with sound moral and ethical clarity.
Sara will be saying more on her decision and answering questions. Too early for judgment.
Just my opinion here. Bush was a RINO like his father. I hoped and prayed that he would not be but he was. He did a lot of good things on secruity but was an open boarders guy and spent trillions before he left office. His advisor was Karl Rove. And to hear Rove bad mouth Sarah on Fox was just uncalled for. The RINO’s are just sacred of her.
I think resigning was brilliant. It gets the press off her butt. Hell Obama effectively resigned mid way to run for president. But he kept collecting the check.
Give her time. She is not dum and does not do things on the spur of the moment. Things will be revealed in the future.
Sarah Palin is no dummy. She can go into full attack mode against 0bama now, with no limitations by the FEC and without personal attacks by the media. If you go back and listen to her words carefully, she WILL be devoting time to energy and social issues, without the campaign limitations and most importantly, without criticism of the Alaska voters.
Starting with GHW Bush, Clinton, GW Bush and now Obama all have at least one degree from Yale or Harvard...Dubya has one from each....and the MSM labeled him the biggest idiot of all.
Ronal Reagan's success = no Ivy League degree. Same with Sarah, IMO.
Maybe I misunderstood the part about her leaving the govt position she was voted into and turning her job over to someone else to do.
I like it!
I agree. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for Sarah Palin. However, if she did have any interest in running for the Presidency in 2012, she severely hurt her chances yesterday. If she runs, the mantra from the left will be: "she's a quitter. She couldn't handle it when things got rough. She didn't even last one term as Governor....there's no way she would be able to handle the pressure of the Presidency." Also, the left now has what they feel is a proven blueprint to destroy those with whom they disagree. Look for them to use this strategy of filing lawsuits and ethics complaints over and over again against others who they view as a threat.
We all know things are going to get worst and Sarah was the one who kept telling the American people the truth about Obama and his policies. McCain tried to play nice to Obama she was the attack dog. When the time comes Sarah will be there to remind the American people I told you so and I can make it right.
You're probably right BUT...
Who didn't finish his first term as senator?...in fact, he didn't even get started before he ran for POTUS. He just continued to get paid!!!!! Sarah is more honest than to keep taking a paycheck and not giving the people their money's worth.
That's my viewpoint.
