While BravoTV's "Top Chef Masters" disappoints, Food Network's "The Next Food Network Star" churns on. We've got drama between the contenders, all sorts of believable food, the ones you'll hate, the ones you'll love, liars and charletons.
All with pics of food AND people you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

Other Blog posts this week:
He claimed a black man carjacked him and his pregnant wife. The carjacker then shot his wife and almost killed him.
His name is Charles Stuart and while he might be unknown today, several years ago he had the entire country in the grip of his terrifying story.
Only it was all a lie.
Here's a book review of Stuart's story by Joe Sharkey..."Deadly Greed".
It's coming upon the TV doldrums of summer and America's Got Talent steps up to fill the void.
Can a guy whose claim to fame is his ability to put a drill of his nose really win this thing?
Also, the new BravoTV cooking contest doesn't quite meet the standards of its cousin "Top Chef". For the "Top Chef Masters" cook up stuff way too heady for the humble home cook.
All with pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.
It's a whimsical collection of oddities, pics and smiles in this week's Thoughts. To include pics of the Obamas doing tasteless things, a story of a big star trying to reach his dead pig and an X-rated Burger King ad you gotta see.
"Bachelorette" Jillian's down to 5 fellows vying for her hand. She will soon visit their home towns and meet their parents.
There's lots of scripted drama going on in this reality series including some live stripping and one fellow out for no one but himself.
All with pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

I love TOP CHEF but TOP CHEF MASTERS sucksssssssssss.
Not me!
It's great fun seeing the big guys submitting themselves to a plebian cooking competition.
Oh, and the charities I've seen through two weeks have all been wonderful (none of the lefty stuff).
The only thing that makes me regret dropping cable TV a few years ago was losing out on the cooking shows on Food Network.
There aren't any "cooking" shows left on foodnetwork, at least not any shows that really help you learn how to cook.
Some of those cooks are putting on the pounds!
Well thank you cause I feel the same way.
Another commenter loves Top Chef Masters. I understand it’s to each his or her own but by me Top Chef Masters has been a real letdown.
I am having a Red Hot Red_Devil throw down at my house today. Just got through canning a bunch of Jalapenos. Also 4 quarts of tomatoes. Fresh homemade bread is on its first rise right now and a great sauce for spaghetti has been perking away slowly for about 3.5 hours. There are two huge skinned garden fresh tomatoes in the fridge ready to be sliced and topped with crumbled feta cheese, fresh basil and a little olive oil. YUM!
I made spaghetti sauce today. Used a jar sauce, though, doctored it up.
I got tomatoes growing in the garden but nothing near ready enough to pick, much less can.
What time you want me?
Kind of reminds me of MTV which started out playing music videos and then shifted towards game shows and "reality" shows. Ugh!
Good Eats is still on.
I have about 20 min. left on the first rise on the dough then another 45 min. or less on the second rise then about 20 min in the oven on the bread. I will boil the noodles while the bread bakes - Hmmmmm - so be here in about an hour and a half. We are having a cheap Merlot.
I like the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show!
Don’t feel bad, most of the new shows on Food Network suck anyway. I hardly ever watch that channel now.

Me too. I’m looking forward to a week in the Minneapolis area in September - have the locations of all the DDD in my GPS - so I’m going on an adventure. Nice thing is, I’ll be there for work, and get to expense it all. :)
I am not really letdown by Top Chef Masters. I really wasn’t expecting much from that show anyway after I read what the format would be. That being said I still watch it. I don’t watch the Next Food Network Star, Chopped or really anything on Food Network.
Good Eats was my favourite show.
I hate that show and the host.
Guy Fieri is from Sonoma County. He's a cool guy!
Yes, he is cool, funny, human and genuine with a nice family.
The next person I love is Ina Garten “Barefoot Contessa”
Then lastly...Tyler Florence.
Not excited about any of the rest of them. The three above mentioned are genuine and NOT about THEMSELVES!!!
