How stupid are members of congress?

We watched as he answered the truly stupid Ms. Kaptur… also from Ohio…without the urge to leap across the table and strangle her. It was Ms. Kaptur who only a year or so ago began her round of questions to Dr. Bernanke with the statement, “Mr. Treasury Secretary.” Dr. Bernanke said, very calmly, “I am not the Treasury Secretary.” Ms. Kaptur responded in a stament that should be entered into the Hall of Fame of Congressional faux pas, “Who are you then, Sir?” She did not recognize the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, and she’s in a position of some authority on the Banking Committee!

it should be noted that Kaptur's confusion was WAY back in Jan of 2008. This was not something said recently. But yeah, she definitely was not prepared. And it's quite obvious the fix has always been in. Congress is a run away train that is there for their own self interests, not ours. A bloodless revolution is needed. The problem is, as a whole, the American people are clueless and would most likely sell their own family out for a happy meal.

I know why this question is being raised now...there is a kind of wave of realization about the lack of mental acuity and reasoning exhibited by these folks sweeping across the nation.

I mean, you watch these people in action on CSPAN and have to wonder if they finished high school, much less higher education.

There is a genuine school yard mentality going on; I am gonna get mine, no matter what!. As if each were in it to get whatever personal wealth he or she can acquire, and SCREW the reality that his or her DECISIONS impact this entire nation on a personal level.

There are so few genuine statesmen in our national congress it is astounding.

Stupid is as stupid does. I won’t have to look up how Rep. Kapur voted on cap and trade.

Everyone should take a few minutes to watch your legislature online. This woman is the norm.

Generally speaking, we (the citizens) have to make Congress a thankless and unpleasant job by removing the outrageous bennies and perqs, so that only those who truly want to aid the republic will go here, and they won’t want to stay too long.

Right not, Congress has IMO become a filthy cesspool of corruption, and that is by BOTH parties.

yes, DC is beyond corrupt. And the pube party couldn’t contain 7 or 8 of their own rinos to stop passage of this crap bill. Hopefully it will die in the senate.

A recent poll showed more than half of Ohio college graduates bailed to other states. There’s a reason for that.

Ancient Rome declined because it had a Senate, now what's going to happen to us with both a House and a Senate?

How stupid are members of Congress? Wrong question. The question should be, how stupid are we, the voters?

We’re the ones who keep sending them back to Washington with the expectation that they will, somehow, do something different.

Until we stop listening to their finely honed, focus group approved words and pay more attention to their actions, we will continue to get a Congress whose productivity consistently achieves record levels of mediocrity.
