If OBAMACARE is So Great, Why Did Congress EXEMPT THEMSELVES?

President Barack Obama keeps telling us how wonderful that his health care plan will be.

"No matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people," Obama said Monday, addressing the American Medical Association. "If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what." He didn't let up."If you like what you're getting, keep it," Obama said. "Nobody is forcing you to shift." Source

Sounds wonderful right? So if the Democratically controlled congress thinks that their health care plan is so wonderful, why have they written a clause in the bill that says Congress is exempted from the plan?:

I think Red Ted would be pushin' up daisies right now if he had been covered under Obamacare. I don't think he would have met the cost effectiveness standards to receive any care at all due to his age.

Just say "No" to Obamacare! Do it for Red Ted.

Just one more reason it won’t pass - I hope the minions see that Congress is exempt from what they get...

From Common Sense; Of the Origin and Design of Government in General...
"...This will point out the convenience of their consenting to leave the legislative part to be managed by a select number chosen from the whole body, who are supposed to have the same concerns at stake which those have who appointed them, and who will act in the same manner as the whole body would act were they present..."
Gee sounds just like our congress, doesn't it?

I have a feeling the UAW will be exempt from it also. After all, we just went to all that trouble to insure the continuance of their Rolls Royce health care plan - benefits FOR LIFE (no Medicare for them at 65)including hearing, vision and dental coverage.

I've been thinking since the beginning that I would sign on to ANY health plan TheOne came up with as long as he,the Congress, Federal, State, Municipal and union employees were also subject to the same health plan as us tax-paying peons.

“If OBAMACARE is So Great, Why Did Congress EXEMPT THEMSELVES?”

A most excellent question and one that should be asked of our elected officials....

This is NOT from the WSJ. Just because you are commenting on the WSJ does not make it a “source”.

***But according to the terms of the Kennedy bill, you must enroll in a “qualified” plan or face a fine, even if you and your employer are paying the entire cost of the plan you already have (section 161). ***

The Big Zero says we can keep our doctors and our private health insurance plan. But he doesn’t tell you that you have to subscribe to a “qualified” plan which will make your doctor pay out of his own pocket if he orders a test or a treatment for you that exceeds what Kennedy says it should. What hurts is that his statement will convince many people to accept his health plan.

What a crock, Mr. Obama!

If the govt. subsidizes GOVERNMENT healthcare, but not private healthcare, many people will go for the GOVERNMENT healthcare, and drive private companies out of business.

Hit the DC phone lines tomorrow; don’t let up. Remind them they’re through in 2010 and 2012; they can start packing now.
