Students from Lawrence High in Lawrence, Kansas, created a Facebook page entitled Save Mr.Latham, Lawrence High History Teacher after their history teacher, Mr. Latham, was allegedly non-renewed for being a political conservative. The result:
The Facebook page now has 1,857 fans from all over the world and Fox News covered the story of alleged political discrimination on its morning show, Fox & Friends. Local television and radio stations have also picked up on the students online effort to expose what they believe is an injustice and the kind of political discrimination they dont want their school administration to engage in.
We hope that other national mainstream media providers pick up this story and show the same conviction to fairness as these students. We hope, but dont expect that to be the case.
So, in that spirit, we thought wed provide a rationale for media providers who arent attracted to a story about discrimination against a political conservative to cover Mr. Lathams struggle, anyway.

And a little child shall lead them.....
First, the prolife movement has been steadily getting less and less grey for many years. Kids are realizing they are plain old lucky to be here, for they had no right to be born.
Next, they are speaking out in surprising places, the sneezes and “GOD BLESS YOUS” at graduations, the entire class of Pace High School standing up to recite the Our Father at their graduation.
Now we have students rising up to protect conservative teachers.
Perhaps our conservative children are trying to tell us something. As we admire the brave protestors in Iran, maybe we should be opening our eyes to our brave protestors here, and better yet, get out there and support them!
Great job, kids! Conservatives are the majority position in this country. We need to get the representation WE deserve!!
Several of the kids coming to the teacher’s defense earlier this week labelled themselves as liberals. Apparently, they didn’t receive the memo from the MSM about the definition of liberal. These students have spent too much time reading the dictionary and looking up words like ‘freedom’ and ‘liberty’ and even ‘liberal’.
Conservativism IS the new liberal. Fighting against the system, sticking it to the man, they are sooooo far left, the only way to “protest” is to be a conservative.
Liberals say they want diversity, a fair expression of ideas, and every point of view heard. That sounds alot more like a conservative to me. Just like we hear grey or green are the “new” black, and 50 is the “new” 40, conservatives are the “new” liberals, and the “old” liberals ain’t gonna like it one bit LOL!
This is the text from a flyer that was handed to my daughter in an AP meeting at Phillipsburg High School. Apparently, students leave thinking Ronald Reagan is a "Disgrace to Humanity." Sad...
"Dear Prospective Students of Advanced Placement United States History,
You are, according to the course guide, eager and industrious students ready to delve into the world of Advanced Placement United States History. But before doing so, it is advisable that you read these helpful tokens form the AP class of 2009. Firstly, we must get something straight. You are, by filling out that little personal information handout, selling your soul. Sleep is now a thing of the past and as J-Wagz wrote to, you will read, read, read and write, write, write. (You may want to add another read and write to those.)
Now that we have a mutual understanding, we shall discuss your prospective teacher, mentor, and dictator who will hold the key to your life and frequently take it out for a joyride, J-Wagz. Please note that Mrs. Wagner is her mother. J-Wagz loves feminism, the law, The West Wing, Her iPhone, political cartoons, and above all projects. She hates multiple choice questions (as you will), Andrew Jackson, racists, fish (except shrimp) and thats what she said jokes. With J-Wagz, feminists are your friend and, if you expect to graduate from high-school, it is recommended you not insult them. And, much like Muslims prostrate to Mecca, you will prostrate to the poster of Eleanor Roosevelt in the back corner. Do not fear your teachers violent threats against historical figures, for she is just that type of person. Finally, to get J-wagz off topic simply talk about her iPhone, the need for education in America, or Ronald Reagan as a disgrace to humanity.
Now we can explore APUSH the class. For all of you over-achievers in the audience, a C is imminent and, more often than not, desirable. Once you accept this, you may prosper. Multiple choice questions will never be quite this agonizing and never again will you see a midterm or final examination quite as comprehensive. The letters DBQ will make you cringe into a visage you never thought imaginable and, after writhin more of them than one can count, you will have the superhuman ability to knock out a legitimate five page (not paragraph) essay in less than an hour. The political cartoon will become your new best friend, a best friend who you will grow to hate. He will make you laugh, cry, and make you scratch your head in dismay as this friend did for us. You will acquire a vast deal of knowledge, but will never quite know enough throughout your studies of history.
In conclusion (you are forewarned to NEVER use those two words in an assignment), we, the APUSH class of the 2008-2009 school year would like to leave you with a few final suggestions. Limit your extra-curricular activities; make friends with the sashier at your nearest coffee shop, and embrace the fact that you are growing more than you may think. This class, the good, the bad and the ugly, is well worth your effort. It is an unforgettable experience. J-Wagz will become one of your favorite and least favorite people and APUSH will be an exciting challenge for the engaged mind. We wish you the best and hop to stt you writing a letter such as this one next year.
Sincerely,
The Advanced Placement United States History Class of 2009"
