CBS has an ugly face. But I’m not speaking of physical appearances; rather, I’m speaking of ideological appearances—the appearances that put racism and sexism on full display for Americans. Just as it did with Don Imus, and just as it did with David Letterman.
If we are to take the case of David Letterman and Don Imus, we can easily see the clear distinction between the two cases. Don Imus—a radio “shock jock” for over thirty years was summarily discharged after his comments regarding the Rutgers Women’s basketball team.

So all those who advocated Imus be fired, should also advocate for Letterman to be fired.
And all those who were opposed to the firing of Imus should also oppose Letterman being fired.

I’ve referenced the different treatment of both in previous threads. What Slutterman did was far worse than Imus.

That and the standard becomes quite different when you look at the targets of each person. It’s the same sexism and racism displayed for everyone to see.
It just doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to Sarah Palin.

David Letterman, as my mother used to say, is “common.” That is, he is no gentleman, he is unacceptable to polite society, he ranks in the social pecking order with cigarette butts laying on the side of the street. He is crass, vulgar and ugly. Considering all of his traits, he fits in well with CBS and the national media. Message to his sponsors: I dont watch his show so you will never get me as a customer by advertising with him.
