Just like Tom Petty's song lyrics, Senator Grassley "won't back down" and stands by his "tweet."

Grassley an Iowa Republican, who last week used Twitter to criticize President Obama for telling Congress that it's "time to deliver" on health care reform, said Sunday that the message was in no way beneath the office of senator.grassley1

Grassley was Quoted as saying: "We've had a dialogue with this president since January the 20th on a program to get a bill to the floor ... for July and we're still on that timetable, and (for) the president to say that we ought to deliver it made it look like Congress wasn't working -- the very weekend that we were working Saturday and Sunday in Washington to keep on schedule while he was sightseeing," . Continuing his remarks, "He didn't need to say that, it didn't contribute to it, it was a cheap shot."

He tweeted "Pres Obama you got nerve while u sightseeing in Paris to tell us 'time to deliver' on health care. We still on skedul/even workinWKEND." Then he wrote: "Pres Obama while u sightseeing in Paris u said 'time to deliver on healthcare' When you are a 'hammer' u think everything is NAIL I'm no NAIL."

Face Fwd Comments:

More of the politics by intimidation. I am happy to see at least some of the opposition party beginning to stand up and say, stop. Healthcare reform is huge and even more so now that the administration has done everything they can do to take over our manufacturing base and banking industries.

Our financial future depends on stopping the power grab by the Democrats and the rest of the Obama administration. We cannot afford anymore debt and the redistribution of income (I say income since they are going way beyond anything resembling wealth).

The biggest problems facing the economic stability America today:

Stop attempts to reform healthcare (reform government healthcare leave public alone)

Cut back on spending to a level that the tax base can sustain

Remove illegals from our government assistance and education roles

Force the banks and automobile manufactures that have taken money from us to repay it

Put the repaid money back into the treasury

Freeze entitlements

Reduce the number of government employees and cut salaries for the rest

Remove all earmarks (pork) from all legislation

It's not all that needs to be done but it is a start. What else need to be added to the list? Your comments on Facefwd.com are appreciated and needed. Once we feel we have enough we will be sending the list to every elected government official in DC.

Grassley is one of the few GOP senators with guts.

He will also strongly oppose the Cap & Trade idea because it would put USA agriculture out of business.

I’ve been watching Chuck for a long time and believe he is sincere and went to DC to do the right thing. He is not a lawyer and comes off like a bumpkin, but he is usually right and will take the lead when required.

Yes he sounds honorable, and maybe even has some political courage here.

What’s the rush with Obama? It seems like every issue that he’s working on, it’s vital that Congress act immediately. Healthcare is a very large and complex system. And all of the problems with our healthcare system have been there for many many years. There’s no big rush to fix everything right now. And we can’t all agree on what needs to be done. It sounds to me like now is the time to take a deep breath and go slow on any major fixes.

Situations like this are where filibusters can be valuable. Congress is full of hot air and talks issues to death sometimes, and this is a good place to slow down. A filibuster, as a legislative matter, means that debate will continue. Any efforts to fundamentally change 1/7 of the economy, and “fix” the best healthcare system in the world, should be very well debated and thought through.

Obama has said that we need action this year, otherwise healthcare reform won’t happen at all. Would it be the end of the world if we didn’t see it happen at all???????

When you’re used to dealing with all crises with a hammer, all you’re going to see are nails. However, in essence what he’s really using is a power screwdriver, because folks, we are really getting screwed....

I agree. He was a farmer, not a lawyer and still goes home every week. Although he does not always get it right, when he does he has enormous courage and conviction.

As Rush Limbaugh has pointed out there is no health care crisis in this country. Obama is making one up to seize power. Medicaid is in crisis as is Social Security and the One is seeking to distract from the real crises, which, in Sowell’s words, require trade-offs, not “solutions” to manufacture phony crises with phony “solutions.” In the great words of Neill Cavuto, “We don’t need a Great Lakes czar.”

If we could just get Grassley to back off corn subsidies and all that ethanol crap, he’d be a pretty good senator. But I guess stuff like that is to be expected for someone from Iowa, if he wants to keep getting reelected.

Grassley used to have some brass ones as of 10 years ago. He got pretty wavering during the Bush admin, finally good to see him get back some of the old fire.

The rush with Obama is that his popularity is quickly diminishing. By this time next year he will have used up all his political capital.

He's looking at the political situation. He has Democrat majorities in both Houses of Congress right now, and on paper, should be able to get anything he wants passed. In truth, there are a few conservative Democrats who are not on board with his liberal and sometimes Fascist agenda. That One thinks that in order to get that agenda in the works, he must rush through legislation while his popularity numbers are still high, because he thinks that this will insure that the Congressmen and women will be more amenable to his ideas, if he has the people behind him. And he wants to get it all done before the 2010 elections, just in case his mistakes cause the Democrats to lose too many seats in the next Congressional elections.

That One is mistaken if he thinks his popularity will protect him, because that is a fleeting thing, and you can be sure that the conservative Democrats will fight him on some issues. But I want him to continue with his public berating of Republicans. It will make those folks who had begun to have second thoughts about their vote for him, start to question his plans even more, and that could trickle down to other regular voters who didn't think much about their vote for him except that he was, according to the MSM, the cool black guy, and they could assuage their white guilt by voting for him.
