Paint the World White?

No. This is not some half-brained idea that smacks of a neo-Nazi revival. It comes straight from the Obama Administration.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu (the same man who didn't realize that oil policy was an important part of his job) is proposing a new plan to reduce energy consumption. According to Dr. Chu, what we need to do is to paint all flat roofs and all streets white.

So is he going to trip along painting flowers, rainbows, and birds white to avoid “global warming?”

I paint my birch trees white every spring.

Using Cool Whip on the roof would be more fun than painting it. Menthol shaving cream would be refreshing also!
Aluminium foiling the roof would be reflective...

The present administration has lost its mind... then again, there's no indication that they ever had one.

We have a flat roof. Not gonna paint it white. If it ever were cost-effective, I wouldn’t mind putting solar panels up there.

Ya know, TREES do a fine job of shading streets and buildings. I remember a number of years ago hearing that Sacramento CA cut a lot of summer energy use by making a concerted effort to grow more shade trees that lessened the “asphalt effect”.
