The CIA are Liars
Creating Orwellian Worldview ^ | 5/25/09 | alaphiah

So there is talk about instituting a truth commission, good! I say the very first task of that commission should be to investigate who in the CIA lied and misled Congress. I think that we should follow this no matter were it leads us and if it’s all the way to the top echelons of government will so be it.

We can’t just have charges of government corruption hanging about and just move on. If the CIA is lying or has lied to Congress these are criminal acts and must be investigated immediately.

Ms. Pelosi says that she stands by her statements that the CIA misled and lied to Congress so something must and should be done about it.

Why not. It's been going on for decades.

I’ve seen how these “investigations” go. All they find is scapegoats for the investigators.

“I’ve seen how these “investigations” go. All they find is scapegoats for the investigators.”

Exhibit #1 being the shenanigans pulled by the CIA to “get” Dick Cheney, culminating in Scooter Libby’s conviction.

If I read this article correctly, what the author is saying is that the allegations are serious and must be investigated.

However, the intent by the author that I am inferring is that if it is found that the CIA is not lying, then Pelosi needs to go down HARD to prevent such unfounded allegations from being uttered again.

Her claims, if true, should have serious repercussions for the CI and if false, for Nan.

Just my two cents.

The words "Truth Commission" should scare the s#it out of everyone.

It is axiomatic that no matter how correct or incorrect the findings are nor how thay are achieved, they will be labeled as the "Truth". It is also the tip of the iceberg. How many more "truths" can be divined by congresscritters with an agenda?

The CIA had no reason to lie. They were fully supported by both committees on the hill. At any other time, even suggesting enhanced interrogation techniques would have brought an outcry from any congressmen or Senator who was briefed. But, all of them knew we had no choice and supported the actions.

And if the CIA did make mistakes and it would be enough to disband or the agency just give up, what then? I'll tell you what, you can have the Country, I'll be leaving, and I bet most do not understand why!

agreed.. the typical response from a trappd lib-rat is to go on the offense...
then cover up their lies with accusations.. then..... slip away to lie another day...I do wonder who holds these lib-rats,{ like our pres and fancy face nancy with her eyes wide shut} accountable,,, say there’s western song in there somwhere...

To dengrate the CIA seems to fit in with administration policy. While it might appear (as reported through compliant MSM reports) that Pelosi and the administration are at odds. Knocking it down two notches or more would allow furthur executive control over what is an independent gathering source of intelligence used for policy evaluation.

Once it becomes politicized (as so often its been accused of) its evaluations would simply be an extention of administration policy which is not the purpose of the organization. Because it would be offering unreliable intelligence.
