The joint statement video is below. Obama simplistically clings to the only phrase he knows - "two-state solution." Bibi broadens the discussion deftly.
Obama: "I've said before and I'll say again" blah blah blah. So narrow.
The "broader" peace Bibi mentions is actually a slap at Obama. Remember that Obama wanted Turkey to run the peace negotiations. Jordan and Egypt took over, tossing the Turks. Jordan has offered a 57-state solution - complete recognition of Israel by every Arab state.

He said 58 states originally. He said he was going to campaign in the OTHER 57 states when he made his statement.
Maybe those are the 57 states Obama had talked about visiting back when he was campaigning. Now I see the “Freudian slip” that was really in that statement. Everyone thought he just screwed up the 50 U.S. states but he probably was thinking of the 57 in his heart.

Judging from the video clips of Obama and Netanyahu, nothing much was achieved today in their talks. Notice that neither had the faintest trace of a smile.

For the occasion, at the request of a reader, I’ve redone a Dry Bones cartoon classic that, more than 30 years ago, back in 1977, gave Jimmy Carter an accurate history lesson in Occupied Territories.
If the reports leaking out of Washington are accurate, the new President seems stuck with the old misconceptions that withdrawing from territory will placate those who lust for our destruction and that America can help by negotiating on behalf of the Arab states that refuse to negotiate directly with the Jewish State of Israel.
The teacher in the 1977 ‘toon was Menahem Begin, then Israel’s feisty Prime Minister. The teacher in today’s cartoon is Benjamin (Bibi) Netanyahu, Israel’s current Prime Minister.
Obama and his Carter/Clinton era handlers tired to bully Bibi and it backfired! Go Bibi!
