THROW AWAY THE SCABBARD
In this alternate history, Jackson survives Chancellorsville. With Jackson leading his Second Corps in an invasion of the North, the war shifts from the Virginia wilderness to the Pennsylvania countryside. After the Army of Northern Virginia wins a stunning victory on the banks of the Susquehanna, General Ulysses S. Grant comes east to drive the Confederates from northern soil. But when Grant fails to dislodge Lee's army, President Abraham Lincoln risks all in a desperate attempt to win the war and restore the Union.
Throw Away the Scabbard is the first book of a trilogy that provides the exciting answer to the Civil War's most enduring question: What if Stonewall Jackson had survived Chancellorsville?
Thank you so much!
“What did I ever do to you! LOL!”
Seriously, congrats on the book.
Getting a book published is a task for heroes!
Just wanted to give you guys a ping in case you want to write a review or something. LOL!
Ping for Later.
Thank you... one day, I hope to start my own publishing company dedicated to all things Civil War.
Look what you’ve done! LOL! Thank you for all your help. I’ve included a link for ordering (if you want).
Newt Gingrich and another guy (whose name escapes me right now) wrote a trilogy examining what might have happened had Gen'l Lee listened to "Pete" Longstreet. It is a pretty good read!
Congratulations! Yaya!! ... Letting it go is not an easy thing is it? Is this your first novel, or the first you’ve decidied to send for publication?
Interesting! Congratulations!
My first. And I spent the better of three years learning how to write a novel.
I read the book. William Fortchen (sp?) was the co-author and a Professor of History.
IMHO, they did a mediocre-to-good copy of “Killer Angels” by Michael Shaara. I highly recommend that book and the later movie “Gettysburg” which is incredibly true to the book.
Just read the excerpts. It’s good! Wow, another talented freeper author! You folks should have a convention sometime.
Read Harry Turtledoves’s book “The Guns of The South”.
I don’t much like most of his (overly elaborative) alternative history. This one is a classic.
Or JEB Stuart had not been late to Gettysburg or Little Round Top had been overrun.
Thank you.
DC was very strongly defended. Are you willing to give us some idea of where?
“Or JEB Stuart had not been late to Gettysburg or Little Round Top had been overrun.”
Royalties all around!
Now, if the Germans hadn't ever bombed Pearl Harbor... ;-)
I’ve read “Killer Angels” and watched “Gettysburg” (several times each!), and I concur with your analysis.
Mine is grounded more in reality than Mr. Turtledove’s wonderful book.
