4 months in NYS and about $200 but I have it! Meanwhile, it took less than 2 weeks and $25 for my nonresident (soon to be resident) Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms.

After decades of taking our natural RKBA for granted, my wife and I finally jumped through the hoops and got our unrestricted Licenses to Carry here in MA. We’ve also since bought 3 handguns and joined a local sportsman’s club and regional gun rights advocacy group (GOAL).

No concealed carry in IL yet, or else I would carry on any trip into the south side.

Got denied because my county (Onondaga, Syracuse NY and surrounding) doesn’t give any to anyone. If I lived half a mile east, in the next county, I’d have one. Sigh.

Although you can’t actually get a permit to carry a handgun in New Jersey, there is a mechanism by which one can be granted. It’s in 2C:58, after the FPIC and handgun permit stuff.
Wisconsin and Illinois have no such law. There is no law that authorizes a carry permit for anybody. Even if they felt that you should have one, no one in those two states has the authority to issue it. It simply can’t be done.

In Pa, the sherrif's department makes it as easy as possible to get a CCW here. Guns is one issue in which Pa is far to the right.
To: Thane_Banquo
I live in Illinois too. Did hell freeze over yet? That’s when we will have concealed or any other kind of carry.
To: Sasparilla
the state of Florida opened a veritable floodgate of changes in almost every state's laws to allow concealed carry.
Of the 18 million Floridians, over 1 million have concealed carry permits. ONOZ! Children are killing themselves with all those guns.
Oh the humanity.

Could you imagine if there was a $200 fee to vote?
Why is this any different?
The right to Self-defense is not something you should have to buy. The 2A guarantees it.

Absolutely. Though I’m sort of worried about new laws down the pike in PA (1 handgun per month), but compared to NY’s new proposed gun laws (including an outright ban on .50+ cals, among others), PA is a much more sane state.
