The Taliban's Atomic Threat
WSL Online ^ | 5/2/09 | JOHN R. BOLTON

His words are not reassuring in light of the Taliban's military and political gains throughout Pakistan. Our security, and that of friends and allies world-wide, depends critically on preventing more adversaries, especially ones with otherworldly ideologies, from acquiring nuclear weapons. Unless there is swift, decisive action against the Islamic radicals there, Pakistan faces two very worrisome scenarios.

the military itself is now gravely threatened from within by rising pro-Taliban sentiment.

The Taliban isn't going to "defeat" Pakistan, they are engineering a merger.

This means that Pakistan's nukes are already in the hands of what will become Taliban Pakistan. This isn't too far-fetched. Pakistan was already a nuclear bazaar before 911 when we started putting pressure on them. The Taliban was a client of Pakistan's intel service, and probably still is. And the terrorists who operate against India are the Pakistani military's creature. In other words, Pakistan is and has been a terrorist state already... they have just up until now been ever-so-marginally "our" terrorist state.

As the Taliban marches on the capital, and the military lets them, they are in the process of giving up any pretense of being "our" anything.

So while we and Israel worry about what to do the day Iran gets its hands on a nuke, we should also be thinking about the day that Taliban Pakistan gets its hands on a whole supply of them. Because they already have them, they just haven't admitted that the "are" the Taliban yet.

What the chance any of the Taliban or AQ (not Kahn) would know how to use these weapon and their guidance systems?

Current report from www.jihadwatch.org.....

May 4, 2009
Taliban: Swat deal is over

For the record, that’s the “deal” Western leaders supported as a model for the way ahead. A little more than two months later, turned out it was merely a delay-tactic by the Taliban who, far from being content with sharia rule in a specific location, are, true to jihadi imperatives, more interested in expansion, in the words of the Koran, “till Allah’s word is supreme” (8:39). So much for Obama’s call to reach out to “moderate” Taliban.

“Swat deal is over: Muslim Khan,” from The News, May 4:

ISLAMABAD: The Swat peace pact stands dissolved and the militants present in Swat, Matta, Kabal and Sangla as well as their commanders have asked for permission to fight everywhere, sources told The News on Sunday.

“Our peace agreement with the NWFP government practically stands dissolved,” confirmed Muslim Khan, a spokesman for the Swat chapter of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while talking to The News via telephone. ìForces are attacking us and our fighters are also retaliating,î he said.

The TTP Swat spokesman vowed that their fighters would now attack security forces and the government figures everywhere. He said the rulers were obeying every directive of US President Barack Obama...
