Manfred Nowak, who serves as a U.N. specialist on torture, said that now that the Obama Administration has released documents admitting that the U.S. government tortured prisoners held at Gitmo, it is obligated under the U.N. Convention against Torture to follow through with prosecution of those complicit in these war crimes.
All who knew of the torture had both the moral and legal responsibility to take action against it, Nowak said. This includes not only those who carried out the heinous acts of torment, but also everyone in the chain of authority. President Bush, as the head-of-state most assuredly would be in line for charges. But so, too, would those members of congress who were briefed, but did nothing to try to stop it.
The notion that members of congress could also be prosecuted was supported by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Those eager to pillory President Bush and the lawyers who wrote the memos supporting enhanced interrogation now werent offering different opinions when we were briefed, Graham recalled. We cant really claim ignorance of the law. Most of the members of congress are lawyers.
Graham went on to characterize House Speaker Nancy Pelosis nuanced claim to innocence based on the theory that she had only been briefed on the possibility that these techniques might be used and not on their actual use as implausible beyond belief. The only way that would fly is for her to establish herself as legally non compos mentis, Graham pointed out.
In related news, President Obama asked a federal court to throw out a class action lawsuit by those taken hostage when the US Embassy in Iran was seized in 1979. We cant move forward if we insist on holding grudges for events that occurred long ago, Obama said. I need a free hand in my dealings with the current government of Iran. The tiny number of aggrieved persons must stand aside for the greater good of the nation.

Thanks for the ping John.
We are obligated to prosecute the UN for corruption, housing and supporting terrorists and various felonies. Time to turn the tables on these clowns...
**President Obama asked a federal court to throw out a class action lawsuit by those taken hostage when the US Embassy in Iran was seized in 1979.**
I can’t tell if this is SATIRE or NOT!!!!!
Does this mean when the U.S. finally overturns Roe v Wade as being an immoral interpretation of the law that we can prosecute all Democrats for murder?
Please help me out, John. Which part is the satire, the UN wanting us to prosecute or Lindsey Graham insinuating that Pelosi is crazy?
They are setting a match to a wildfire that will consume them.
That line reads like satire to me.
Obamas bosses at the UN must of ordered it.
Stuff the UN where the sun doesn’t shine...when the parasites at the UN stop raping, pillaging, stealing and pretending to be the moral equivalent of the U.S., then we will consider the UN to something better than the P.O.S. that it is.....
I’ve read the thread as I always do before I reply. ;o)
You are truly a master of satire, and I give you a BRAVO!
In Southernese...you, Sir, are one big ole HOOT! lol
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I guarantee you this won’t be satire for long, John.
WastedY? come on - the UN?...for Pete’s sake those ineffectual career blowhards are going to demand this or that(?)...yawn...
With all respect, the UN this the very definition of political “satire” run amok, sad to say.
You believe these UN moles will revive this absurd partisan cry to - prosecute Bush and our demonic DOJ attorneys?
Well, OK...let’s see who makes the biggest outcry, and then let’s “objectively” analyze their actual motives and intentions.
Iran Objects to Clinton Tone of Voice
Irans Expediency Council Chairman, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, urged President Obama to choose another Secretary of State because Mrs. Clintons tone is strident, grating and disrespectful. It is easy to see why her husband sought comfort from another woman.
Rafsanjani contended that there is no chance for improving the relations between our two countries as long as this harpy continues to screech at us. It was bad enough that Bush humiliated the entire Muslim world by naming a female as its chief diplomat. But Mrs. Clinton is like the insolent wife who must be beaten regularly in order that her master may attain the peace of silence in his household.
Every time you ping me on these I know I get to laugh twice....once for the great satire, and once more for the enraged responses. Keep ‘em coming!
They want all of the American people tried as well for funding these heinous acts.
It is satire, but like so much good satire, it has a ring of truth to it.
Thanks for using absurdity to illustrate the absurdity of their position John!
thatta boy obozo
