The Provocateur ^ | 04/24/2009 | Mike Volpe

Here is a summary. The whole entire NBC family, owned by General Electric, has been by far the most pro Obama network for a long time now. General Electric has been faltering ever since Jack Welch was succeeded by Jeffrey Immelt. The NBC family has been losing money for years. Furthermore, their finance divisions, GE Capital and the now defunct WMC Mortgage, have created billions in red ink. Right now, the company is heavily lobbying the administration for bailout funds. The stock is down near 70% since he took over nearly a decade ago.

The real shock here is that after all the so called outrage by GE shareholders they re-elected the same board members to new terms.

Sort of like the political electorate isn’t it. My congressman is a corrupt thieving spineless SOB but dammit he’s my corrupt, thieving, spineless SOB!

is that sarcastic, or do you not see a problem with a major news network promoting a politician while they stand to benefit from a signature piece of legislation from said politician.

same story, written by two different people. Folks like us find this important, but do you think that you will find this on CNN’s website or on ABC, CBS, etc.

It is important and I’m not so sure it isn’t criminal.

A big govt/big media version of payola.

news agencies are not supposed to frame the news they give to the public ... it like lynching a person in the press before the case has been presented to the jury.

It is not the way the medias operate today. We could see that during the election, especially clearly.

That does not make it the right thing to do or make it a moral choice. Facts and facts are to be reported

It has become increasingly rare. We are growing to accept it, as time passes.

It is unfair use of the airways to only allow presentation of one point of view.

We see it all day long ... liberal views on all the shows on TV. etc. Obfuscation of conservative issues is the norm now.

That is the issue I have.

It’s criminal definitely if you can show a specific quid pro quo. That’s likely nearly impossible unless someone inside either the White House or GE leaks an email, and that assumes there is a quid pro quo.

It is certainly beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst kind of conflict of interest. This is the anti thesis of what he ran on. This should be an important story but it’s only important here.

I was neither shocked nor surprised. The sad part of it is that it was compared to the seriousness of Watergate, but I don’t think that anything would ever become of it if it is indeed true. It will be one of those things that are just shrugged off, either because the power balance is lopsided, or people in general won’t understand what it means.

We have a very sad state of affirs in the Union today when those in power can do virtually anything they want. Fortunately we have two checks on that power left. The Supreme Court, and We the People from which all power government originates.

We all need to be sure to go to a Tea Party near us the next time they come about, because when all else fails, it’s up to us to inform the government that it no longer has consent of the govered. The founding fathers counted on this as a backstop in case the government should careen out of control to the extent as this one has.

NBC report on its own bias? Ha! Absolutely not! Keep up the good work! This GE/Obama nonsense is a big story and needs to be exposed.
