On the heals of announcements of the formation of a local Eureka Ca. ( Humboldt County ) committee and fund raising for the construction of a bust or statue of former president George W. Bush, local and state left wing radicals have announced terror threats and plans to destroy the proposed statue by explosion.

I don’t think we should have statues, schools named after, ships named after, etc of living current or former leaders at all (Presidents, Congressmen, whatever), but sure as hell don’t make terrorist threats about having them.
What are they threatening to do? Pull it down and then whack it in the head with their shoes?
That is absurd. What about the people in the twin towers? They weren’t both the victims AND the intended target? They were not the only victims, but they were victims of terror nevertheless.
The victim of a terrorist act is never the intended target. You do not understand the definition
of the word terrorism. As you wrote, words have meaning.
Read the comments. Egads, the DUmmies are showing their true colors. However, the DUmmies posting there are the base of the Democratic Party, so these are not terroristic threats, they are just a unique way of political free speech. At least that is how one City Councildork from St. Paul, MN would describe it - yes, the same one who defended the actions of the RNC “anarchists” with Molotov cocktails and urine bombs. Now those disagreeing with the Obama administration in a civil manner - those are the real terrorists. Janet Napolitano said so.
Sorry to be so ignorant and stupid. Merriam-Webster says terrorism is “the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion,” without mentioning the intended target. Terrorism is the intent to intimidate or cause terror. Destroying a statute, however repugnant, surely isn’t intimidating, it is maddening, it might be insulting but it is not threatening, nor is it what I would call coercive. Who would be coerced? What would they be coerced into doing? What, pray, would be coercive in blowing up a statue? It might cause alarm among the non-sentient statue population, but few others unless they happen to be very skittish, or unless they believe themselves to be non-sentient statues. By your definition, sanitation workers threatening to strike is an act of terror. Blank slate, indeed.
A statue, a building, an airport, all symbols. The terror aspect is not the building statue or people next to it, it is the political target that is the end result. As you wrote, Terrorism is the intent to intimidate or cause terror.
I guess the bottom line is, I am not terrorized by acts of vandalism and destruction carried out on inanimate things, regardless how symbolic, or threats thereof. I come from sterner stock. And that is why the 9.11 creatures struck the twin towers instead of the Statue of Liberty.
And they effectively curtailed many good things he tried to do while in office...with a lot of help from their "friends" across the isle.

I don’t think the George Bush statue is SKEERD of these
leftist threats. Hahahahah!
Funny thing is that the democrats in office were the ones who started this calling Bush a war criminal. After reading the thread that is what the idiot who makes the threats keeps going back to. (lets conveniently forget that the democrats also sanctioned the war though)
Liberals can be as violent as they want. When we get involved with anything like half a million people all over the country in peaceful protest and not one report of violence at all we are called terrorists.
OK. I just saw it was in Eureka and figured ya might be interested.
It is a great looking statue, isn't it?! Not a person that would go around apologizing to the world for his country!
