His crime? Daring to interview USC journalism students about Katie Courics journalistic practices. You can contact the Dean of the Annenberg School of Communications here:

Property rights vary from state to state.
Private property is not public property.
There might be reasons to mark or post one’s private property, but the public has no right to access private property. The signage might be a form of communication from one party to another, but lack of such communication does not authorize public access. Lack of communication might hinder recourse on the behalf of the owner against a trespasser, but a person entering that private property is still guilty of trespass.
Not locking the door to your house doesn’t entitle a stranger to enter your house, although his access might be less restricted.
Some other FReeper said it was public.
Contradictory info.
IMHO, I would simply call him a journalist instead of a film-maker. I didn’t see anything he was doing to warrant the arrest. Even if he was espousing views completely contrary to the people hosting the event, there should have been some type of professional camaraderie amongst those administering the event.
Technically, the folding table used to administrate ticket holders entering the event obstructed the public thoroughfares more than the journalist. The security also forcibly moved him onto the grass instead of the sidewalk, so they are liable if they allege he was in the wrong location.
I didn’t observe any proper notification to him of what he might have been doing wrong or what regulations were being violated, until after they handcuffed him, moved him off the sidewalk and then communicated they wanted him to leave.
I also don’t observe him resisting arrest, but instead was being as compliant in intent and action as he could, while exercising volition to ask questions.
When asked to leave, the only sound explanation given was they communicated they were asking him to leave, and he complied, even asking how they would like for the cameramen to access their parked vehicles.
I don’t observe any violation of anything here, other than when they handcuffed him, and they probably violated his rights when they physically moved him off the sidewalk.
Meanwhile, its obvious the School of Communication has no espirit de corps amongst serious journalism or with reporters, nor do they seek to foster professional conduct in the manner they chose to handle a situation which frustrates their thinking.
IMHO, the USC School of Communication discredited themselves in the eye of the public, in a fashion difficult to do, when the public really didn’t give a damn about what the hell they do anyways.
The USC School of Communications giving an award to Katie Couric for journalism is synonymous to the KKK giving and award to David Duke for promoting the NAACP.
Posted here on Thursday as well. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2230701/posts?page=1
Yes, this is what Germany was like. It took Hitler 3 1/2 months to silence his opposition.
This is only the beginning. The NAZIs have a firm hold of America.
The apparatus has been so corrupted by flesh and culture, that it no longer is safe to follow what is called “the law”. It’s all for their tummies, none for the law, folkes. Keep your guns and second guess those uniforms and institutions like it were infected by AIDS and the plague itself.
Thanks for the detailed answer. I suspected as much.
It’s interesting though, isn’t it, that the liberals — who are always screaming about the lack of free speech — are the ones who are actually the ones curtailing it in each and every instance in which it is curtailed.
