Maher strayed away from his usual format and interviewed Ron Howard and Gore Vidal rather than having a panel on. Here's a segment of the Vidal interview where Maher asked him what he thought of the conservative movement today and President Obama.
"I think of myself as a conservative. Admittedly, I can read The New York Times without moving my lips, which is a sign of communism," Vidal says.
Maher asks what Vidal thinks of Sarah Palin
"I don't think about it at all. And I get no impression that she's thinking either."
On Obama: "I like him...I feel sorry for him."
On Conservatives: "They are a minority party, except they're not even a party, they're a mindset. They don't like this, they don't that. It could be sex, it could be race, it could be religion. They're just filled with dislike. They have no chance of getting anywhere unless they get attached to another movie star."
Doesn't quite sound like a conservative to me! And we all know what an ass Maher is.

Vidal says his grandfather, Sen. Thomas P. Gore of Oklahoma, and Al Gore’s father, Sen. Albert Gore Sr. of Tennessee, were sixth cousins
They are cousins. Many Southern families use a family last name as a first name for their children to honor another branch of their family. I remember both Gore Vidal and Al Gore mentioning that they were related when Gore ran for President.
From the Salon.com interview I linked to earlier...
>You’re related to Al Gore?
Actually, he’s related to me.
>How?
Well, he’s a cousin, a blood cousin. And I have actually never met him, although members of the family have tried to arrange meetings and I’ve talked to his people. But as I repeatedly say, although I am probably resigned to Nader, in the long run Gore is thicker than Nader.
>Say what?
Gore is another word for blood. So although I am coming out for Nader I will at the end of the day, as they say in the House of Representatives, discover that Gore is thicker than Nader.

I’m afraid you’re the fool, because they are distantly related.
“source” does not equal “source URL”, please note
Thanks for the clarification. Strange family those Gore’s.
Re: Al Gore Sr, Armand and Julius Hammer.
Gore Vidal is an American-hating psychopath and always has been. Bill Mahrer can put this in his hat, along with the other crap that goes in it.
I thought they were joking. I never heard of a last name being used as a first name.
“Gore” isn’t Vidal’s first name. It’s Eugene. Gore is his second middle name.
Whatever his name is he’s far left, politically.
Thanks for the further clarification.
I would be more worried if Vidal or Maher didn’t blast Sarah Palin.
Vidal being on the far, far left was never in doubt. He was the sworn enemy of William F. Buckley, Jr. This was one of their more infamous exchanges on tv.

Dude! Let it go! Seriously! Why does it bother you so much! It just makes it easier for people to click over if they want to see the video or whatever.
Actually Meghan might be a little more intelligent.
I watched it. The guy’s a little leftist punk.
Did you see my post near the top where he endorses the Revolutionary Communist movement “World Can’t Wait”? And that was a mere year or so ago.
The Young (13) Fred Zarguna, watching this unfold on ABC's wall-to-wall coverage of the Democrat National Convention, with his saintly, now departed Mama Zarguna, ands Papa Zarguna (still with us).
Fred: "Mom, what's a crypto-Nazi?"
Ma Z: "It's like a lot of things Gore Vidal says: It doesn't really mean anything. He's just trying to make Bill Buckley Mad."
Fred: "Mom?"
Ma Z: "Yes, Fred?"
Fred: "What's a queer?"
Ma Z: "It's what Gore Vidal is."
Fred: "MOM!?"
Ma Z: "Ask your Dad."
Fred: "Dad?"
Dad Z: "Remember how you said you think Father Blasko is creepy?"
Fred: "Yeah..."
Dad Z:"Gore Vidal is like Father Blasko."
Fred: "Oh..."
Are you sure about that? I had always heard it was an assumed name that he nicked for himself because he didn’t want to be called “Junior.”
No, it doesn’t make it easier for anyone, except you. GO to a normal thread and click on the “Time” or the “Chicago Tribune” or “Gateway Pundit” located where it should be; where you have a mile long URL in place of Conservative Express. Guess what? It goes directly to the URL its supposed to - the URL that is put into the “Source URL” block.
Gore Vidal is about as Conservative as a hockey puck...
Isn’t that insulting to hockey pucks? At least they have a job and a function.
