Mark Levin: The Thomas Paine of our Time
Big Hollywood ^ | 4-6-09 | Orson Bean

Posted on 04/06/2009 10:00:39 AM PDT by STARWISE

In September of 2001, I found myself employed at a theater in Los Angeles playing the part of Ben Franklin in the musical “1776.”

The show is about the signing of the Declaration of Independence: an entertaining history lesson that concludes with all the bells in Philadelphia ringing and the actors freezing in a tableau recreating the famous painting of the original signers. It stirs up feelings of patriotism in the hearts of all but the most America-hating of theater goers.

As luck would have it, the first week of the show’s run concluded on Sunday September 10th. The next morning, I slept in, then awoke to find an answering machine message from my wife, who’d driven off to a breakfast date. “Turn on the TV,” her breathless voice said. “New York City has been bombed.”

I miss seeing Orson on the tube or anywhere .. he's an original. FYI, he's Andrew Breitbart's father-in-law, and is married to the Mom on the Wonder Years, Alley Mills. His BIO...... his new book.

I always saw Mark Levin as the Jewish Samual Adams of our time.

A firing breathing conservative and a great American.

I wasn’t aware that Orson Bean is a patriot. Great post, Starwise. Great “about” page too.

I would describe Mark Levin as the modern day equivalent of the St. Jerome of Conservatism. Rash, ornery, and orthodox to the conservative ideal. Levin takes on any challenger, liberal or RINO because he has the documentation (U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Federalist Papers, History, etc...) to back up his argument.

I don’t know.

Maybe your memory isn’t as good as mine.

Wonderful read! Should be mandatory high school reading!

How about mandatory reading for every Congresscritter, senator, and judge, too?

Not to mention the POTUS.

The Great One's latest is next on my must-read list, and it's good to see another Hollywood type come out of the closet as a conservative.

Orson should have re-checked his timeline, though: 9/11/2001 was a Tuesday, so 9/10/2001 could not have been a Sunday.

Thanks for the ping. My copy of the book came in Friday and it is awe inspiring and one of the most important books of our time.

Mark Levin is brilliant!

Is there any way that we can encourage the use of “patriot” in place of “consevative”? I’ve committed to doing so in all my FR posts (I’ve missed a few, gets some getting used to) but that is preaching to the choir.

I think it is much more descriptive and draws a line in the sand vis-s-vis the Opossum cultists and us.

Maybe Hannity can start saying, “You’re a patriotic American!” instead of his usual catch-phrase. Rush’s listeners can use, “Patriotic dittoes from...”

Orson Bean is fabulous. He is another ex-liberal who happened to have a brain and decided to come home.

He's also Andrew Breitbart's father-in-law.

I'll try and dig up his appearance on, RedEye.
