This is a link to the YouTube video of Trace Adkins performing his song "Til the Last Shot's Fired" with the West Point Glee Club at the Academy of Country Music Awards, aired 05 Apr 2009.
Well worth a few minutes of your time for veterans, families, and military supporters.
Brought a tear to my eye last night.
God Bless you Andrew Kinard.
Seen this?
crap. I forgot to DVR that last night. Is it replaying anytime soon?
Again, wonderful post by a Freeper. Thank you - didn’t watch the awards show last night because never know when POSs like Dixie Chicks rear their ugly heads...but God bless CMAs...unlike Oscar a**holes...
bttt
Thanks for posting such a touching tribute to our fighting men and women.
That looks like an Annapolis graduation.
I was lucky enough to have Bush 41 speak at mine.
That young man, and others like him, should remind us why this country is worth fighting for...
Last night’s POS was Jamie Fox who had to make much ado about black’s “changing” everything. A shout out to 0 had me changing the channel and returning when he stopped his self-promoting monologue (that seemed endless).
One thing that really impressed me with the crowd on hand was when the Marine came out on stage, the crowd immediately sprang to it’s feet to attention in almost military unison.
This really says something about the vast majority of the country music world versus the majority of pop/rock/rap.
The crowd showed me they have an unapologetic respect for our Republic’s military.
If you get the chance to see the video look for the crowd’s response. It will be uplifting.

ping to ya
BUMP and a PING.
Thank you for posting this.
I don’t watch award shows. But, just my luck, I flipped channels and caught the Trace Adkins tribute. The audience was moved, and I hope it was genuine and not disingenuous. Couldn’t help wonder how many voted for BO. I always considered country music leaned to the conservative side, but now not so sure. All the idiot celebs have turned me into such a cynic.
Was this on the CMAs? Who let him in the door? Is Trace going to be asked to speak at the Ebony awards? or BET awards? or Miss Black America contest? or Black Caucus dinner? or Black Correspondents’ dinner? Hmmm...? So it was good I ducked the show, huh...? It is now my modus operandi...no awards shows...
Jamie Fix came out with a vocal Black thing and said:Oh, this isn’t the BET awards. I couldn’t believe it and I thought I might hear a few boos (hopefully). I was disguested.
Well, fortunately even amidst the chaos there was at least one shining moment.
I hope people will go to iTunes and download this song and video. If you do, net proceeds go to the wounded warrior project. Ping everyone. Please.
Wanted to ping you on this.
