The Myth Of 90 Percent
Friends of Ours ^

Posted on 04/02/2009 11:07:31 AM PDT by AtlasStalled

The mantra is repeated tirelessly in the main stream media that 90 percent of all guns used by the Mexican drug cartels are supplied from the United States; however, the reality is that only "around 17 percent" of the seized guns are from the United States:

By all accounts, it's probably around 17 percent. What's true, an ATF spokeswoman told FOXNews.com, in a clarification of the statistic used by her own agency's assistant director, "is that over 90 percent of the traced firearms originate from the U.S." But a large percentage of the guns recovered in Mexico do not get sent back to the U.S. for tracing, because it is obvious from their markings that they do not come from the U.S. "Not every weapon seized in Mexico has a serial number on it that would make it traceable, and the U.S. effort to trace weapons really only extends to weapons that have been in the U.S. market," Matt Allen, special agent of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), told FOX News.

Indeed, even the idiotic Senator John Kerry who wants to implement an assault weapons ban in the United States purportedly to help the Mexican government in its fight against the drug cartels, concedes "that that only about one out of every four weapons seized by Mexican authorities last year was submitted to ATF to be traced back to purchasers and sellers in the United States, and he urged the Mexican government to provide ATF with fuller access to these weapons."

If this is even true, then enforce the laws on the books now... Problem Solved!!! But these are dims and they are only using this as an excuse to kill Americans and control every facet of life here.

It does not take a rocket scientist to determine that the weapons that are providing the Mexican drug cartels with the most firepower are not originating in the U. S. One cannot purchase hand grenades and rocket propelled grenades at gun shows or from legitimate gun dealers in the U. S. Neither can fully automatic weapons be purchased in the U. S. except on the black market. Therefore these weapons are being obtained from other sources outside the U. S.

The federal government, under the Obama administration, sees another crises, be it Mexican, that it doesn't want to waste. The alleged gun running crises from the U. S. to Mexico is a manufactured one aimed at aiding in the further erosion of our second amendment right in the U. S. by our own government, and not to aid the Mexican government in its fight against the drug cartels.

If we were serious about the “war on drugs” then our attitude would be: If you deal drugs then you die. We will catch you, indict you, try you and if you are convicted you will die within six months.

Jail time and fines aren't working and haven't since the beginning of this so called war. Too many people are making to much money out of the charade including the drug dealers, lawyers, persecutors, judges and law enforcement officials. The snake must be killed at the head. The drug dealers must be willing to risk their lives in order to stay in business.

Mexican drug cartel gun buyer: “Let's see. I want 50 fully automatic AK-47s. I need run some guys up to the US to find some. Most of them are semi-auto, so I will have to have them converted. Then there is getting them past both US and Mexican border officials. Or...I can send a quick call to China/Cuba/Venezuela/Russia/other former Soviet republic and have a crate of fully automatic AKs, still in cosmoline, delivered to my door. No fuss, no muss, and they will throw in some RPGs and grenades as a thank you.”

The drug cartels are a business, they will buy from the cheapest, fastest, most reliable provider. That is not the US.
