VIDEO: Eric Cantor Skips Obama Press Conference; Goes to Britney Spears Concert

Republican Leader Rep. Eric Cantor is unimpressed with all the uproar over the revelation that he attended a Britney Spears concert while President Obama convened the second primetime news conference of his presidency.

"I don't know why that's an issue whatsoever," said the House Minority Whip. "There was a concert and I had a political event at that concert. Look, that is why I was there."

I love how Wolf Blitzer and the CNN crew try to mock Cantor. I think Cantor's explanation is great.

And who cares? There's 800 Billion things I would rather have done than watch Obama's News Conference, the most boring hour in the history of television!

Good for Cantor! I don't blame him for missing the news conference; I just wish I hadn't forced myself to suffer through it.

Besides, what's the real difference? Britney lip syncs and Obama teleprompter syncs!

Good for Cantor, expect him to the be the new “whipping boy” of Left now, (Rush, Santelli, Cramer, Beck, Rove..have gone before him).

...Wasn't it Milli Vanilli who got shamed off the playlists a few years ago for something like this? And Obama can't even sing his lies. Lines. Whatever.... Cantor's stock just went up in my portfolio.

There is something creepy about a middle aged guy going to a Britney Spears concert...

Depends on the nature of the political event he was attending. We can't cede all these votes to the articulate, bright, clean nice-looking guy.

I didn't watch it either. I've rarely watched any presidential press conference. I don't plan to watch any of his faux-presidential press conferences.

So, what’s the big deal — Really, I mean one is a former coke snorting, lying POS and the other is a 28 year female entertainer...what’s the big deal...Eric made the right move.

story at Wash Post
... Cantor had to skip much of his party's big annual fundraiser last night for House GOP candidates to go rake in money for his own campaign at Ms. Baby One More Time's show. He left the GOP dinner around 9 p.m., we're told, to head over to the Verizon Center. We're told by one GOP leadership aide that the conservative whip didn't exactly enjoy himself, but did what he had to do to save his party. "If suffering through a Britney Spears concert will raise one more dime to help Republicans take back the House, then next time there should be 100 more members sitting there with Cantor," the source says...

...As reported by wonkette.com, Cantor's office confirmed the attendance, saying that he was not the only politician in the group of Britney's concertgoers. Democratic Senator Landrieu was also there along with other Democrats. Landrieu's office denies the charge and Cantor's office now claims that it cannot "verify 100 percent certainty" that she was there.

Here's what Cantor would have seen, had he attended:

I was listening to MSNBC, Nora O’Donnell this morning, and she was raking another GOP congressman over the coals because Cantor had the audacity to attend this concert instead of watching Obama’s press conference...I couldn’t believe how put out she was by this as if it was mandatory viewing by all.

Besides, what's the real difference?

Bambi doesn't effect me the same way a half naked blonde skank does.

Chrissy Matthews, and the other presstitutes.... that's a different story.

To: Repeat Offender

those were all good points but not the obvious problem with the approach he was taking.

Cantor was on DEFENSE which was unnececessary. Our side must get on the offense and stay there and not stoop to defend ridiculous charges.

Are you serious? UM HELLO! Britney recent concert pic.

Now...if he went to the Jonas Brothers it would be a different story.
