There are plenty of people who are lined up to use Cuba's "Nova" linux distribution. What kind of people you ask? Well, let's just say they aren't exactly the sharpest utensils in the drawer... Ummm... isn’t “nova” spanish for “it doesn’t work”? I thought I’d heard someone tell me that once.
No Va.... doesn’t Go.
I’ve been using Linux for about 18 months now. Nova looks a whole lot like SUSE in Spanish. I’ve had some of my stuff censored by Linux groups so it comes as no surprise to see the commies in Cuba join in.
Nova ... new
They laughed at GM for introducing the Chevy Nova, expecting it to be popular in Latin America. But it’s quite unfair to say it means “doesn’t go” without also mentioning that Spanish people will see it as “new.”
You have Nova Nate? Where’s the link? i wanna see this thing in action.
I’m assuming an English option is NOT an option...
Translations vary according to what you read. “It doesn’t work” is one, “Doesn’t go” is another and so on. Any way you look at it though, it pretty much says the same thing.
I remember how I learned this... when the Chevy Nova was new, and was being sold in South America, sales were far below expected. They looked into it and found that “people didn’t want to buy a car that wouldn’t go”.
