According to Ohio Congresswoman Betty Sutton, a bill passed by the House on Thursday March 12, 2009 "will create over 480 million jobs."
Sutton made the claim during floor debate on H. Res 235, the rule to provide for consideration of H.R. 1262, the Water Quality Investment Act of 2009.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today in support of the rule and the underlying legislation, H.R. 1262, the Water Quality Investment Act of 2009. This bill provides a total investment of $18.7 billion over 5 years for much-needed water and environmental infrastructure. Not only will this bill help provide communities with improved water quality, but it must be remembered that it will create over 480 million jobs....
Just to note...the estimated population of the United States today is 305,808,287.
I’m just laughing at the fact her claim falls 20 million short of the number of ‘lost jobs’ per MONTH nancy pelosi claimed a few weeks back.
That said, I want to apologize on behalf of my state of Ohio for inflicting this airhead on you all.

That’s why I posted this. I also sent copies to a few of the chattering class. (Not that they’ll report it or anything.)
But there are 160,000,000 adults in the USA under retirement age. We’ll all have to get a second job to pay for the taxes on the first job and then a third job to pay for the gas and child care and stuff for the second job, and 160,000,000 x 3 = 480,000,000.
So, each of those 480 million jobs can be expected to pay a salary of two dollars and forty cents per year.
I think I'll let somebody else take those jobs!
