Remember How Obama Was Supposed To Restore "American Prestige"?
Start Thinking Right ^ | March 9, 2009 | Michael Eden

Posted on 03/09/2009 5:15:21 PM PDT by Michael Eden

I heard so many liberals crying that Bush had forfeited "American prestige" in the world - and that Obama would magically restore the image of America around the world - that I finally just kept a vomit bucket next to my chair.

Let us just say that a mere 6 weeks into the Obama presidency, the outright, "barf all over your shoes" idiocy of the liberal mantra.

First we had Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stun Israel with her unhelpful accusations against a close friend and ally.

Then we had that same Secretary of State Hillary Clinton traveling to Russia so she could demonstrate to the world that the United States was now being run by a bunch of morons.

You would think that with all of the Marxists in the Obama administration, at least one of them would understand the Russian language well enough to keep us from looking like a bunch of fools:

Russian media has been poking fun at US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton after she gave her Russian counterpart a "reset" button with an ironic misspelling.Clinton's gift to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at their meeting in Geneva on Friday evening was meant to underscore the Obama administration's readiness to "to press the reset button" in ties with Moscow.

But instead of the Russian word for "reset" (perezagruzka) it featured a slightly different word meaning "overload" or "overcharged" (peregruzka).

GA_googleFillSlot("news_story_instory");
Daily newspaper Kommersant put a prominent picture of the fake red button on its front page and declared: "Sergei Lavrov and Hillary Clinton pushed the wrong button."
But Russia was just the Obama Administration's warm-up routine for it's grand fiasco with Britain.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown came to the White House bearing valuable gifts of historic significance that any museum would have been thrilled to receive. They were gifts that embodied care, thought, and national pride. Obama responded by giving Brown 25 DVDs he most likely can't even watch (they use a different format on their DVDs than the US market) that could have been bought in any Wal Mart.

If that isn't bad enough (and it's frankly pretty damn bad), Obama returned - literally over British protest - a famous bust of Winston Churchill that the country had given the United States in the aftermath of 9/11. Obama basically said of the bust - which had been displayed in the Oval Office since - "take your junk back."

It is only an educated guess on my part, but I have a feeling that Obama is holding out for a bust of the Great Appeaser Neville Chamberlain as a more appropriate metaphor for his foreign policy.

And - just to add injury to insult - Obama denied the leader of America's greatest ally in the world a state dinner, and abruptly informed Prime Minister Brown that he wouldn't bother to attend the joint press conference.

Not to be outdone in tastelessness, Michelle Obama responded to Mrs. Brown's gift of outfits from the most exclusive clothier in England by giving the Brown children a couple of toy helicopters hastily picked up by a staffer from the White House gift shop.

The entire British press is pretty much frothing at the mouth mad over the slap in the face.

So, the United States now fawns over Hamas terrorists while Obama pretty much tells our closest historic ally, "You guys suck." The British are aghast at how shoddily and cheaply their leader was treated.

A State Department spokesman said, "There's nothing special about Britain. You're just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn't expect special treatment."

The "special relationship" the United States has enjoyed with England for 150 years - including partnership in two world wars - is basically over.

Powerline headlines its article, "Don't blame us, we're incompetent," to describe the national and international fiasco.

Apparently, "American prestige" means pissing all over our closest friends and allies while pursuing friendships with countries who hate us.

You can drop a note to the British apologizing for the despicable conduct of our embarrassment of a president at:

British Embassy 3100 Massachusetts Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20008
And let us hope they do forgive us. By the time the Disgrace-in-Chief gets through undermining and destroying America, we'll need all the friends we can get.

The Obama’s prove that you can buy the presidency, but you can’t buy class.

Do they have an email address?

Maybe we need a “Dear Britain, We are sorry” site?

He seems to be doing well with North Korea, Russia, and Iran. What’s the problem?

Whoa! I didn’t know we treated the British PM that badly... Then again, the British and Europeans all “voted” for Obama in the opinion polls... during the election campaign...

You’d think that with the Clintons on staff, that they would at least have clued the obamas in on the gift giving thing. Democrats must all be about teamwork /s

People who criticized Bush will become more and more silent as President Transparency gets further into his term.

Yeah right.
King Zer0 irritates, annoys and disses our friends and allies and grovels before our enemies and petty dictators.

I STILL cannot believe how many people were bamboozled by this guy. Buffett, Cramer, Buckley, etc. Obama is the Joker.

Those are pretty darn good photoshops!

It is truly amazing. Neville Chamberlain was utterly ruthless in ramming home his socialist liberal agenda; and utterly pathetic in allowing evil to dominate the world.

Now we’re about to go through it all over again.

During the campaign, the guy promised to invade our ally (Pakistan) and make friends with our enemies (Iran, the Taliban, NK, etc.) Obama pretty much told everybody what sort of crappy foreign policy dishes he was bringing to the table.

It was the media/celebrity culture bigwigs that decided that this turd was filet mignon, and convinced a majority of this country to take a bite.

Buckley is probably a poofer and has tingles running up his leg.

Buffet has his company to protect so he isn't going to throw Obama under the bus. Obama has a habit of making people a target who cross him

Plus can you imagine if Buffet actually told the American public the Obama "economic recovery team" are a bunch of buffoons.

The market would crash like a B-52 with no fuel at 10,000 ft.

Yeah. I had no idea either.

You have to go out of your way to learn the truth today; the mainstream media is out to distribute propaganda, and cannot be trusted.

You're right; Europe "voted" for Obama in opinion polls, and deserve what they get for supporting a fool. But we actually DID vote for the fool. Now the joke is on the whole world, I suppose.

Washington DC 20008

attn: Lynda Burns

a friend of mine suggested we come up with an appropriate gift, take up a collection, create it and send it on. (hell, why not... it’s not like the current administration gives a sh*t)

thoughts?

Oops!

I missed one of Obama’s Secretary of State Clinton’s shockingly horrifying and insulting remarks in the name of restoring “American prestige.”

Revisionist History

Members of the European Parliament in Brussels were shaking their heads today after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton incorrectly said U.S. democracy is older than Europe’s. Clinton compared Europe’s multi-party political system to our two-party version: “It is hard enough with two parties to come to any resolution, and I say this very respectfully, because I feel the same way about our own democracy, which has been around a lot longer than European democracy.”

Europeans trace their Democratic tradition back thousands of years to the days of classical Greece. Later Secretary Clinton raised eyebrows again when she mispronounced the names of two of her EU counterparts.
