...rather than so many other countries across the globe.
Not to make light of the plight of the poor in our country -- it just really says something about the bounty of our great nation when a man in line at a homeless shelter has a cell phone that takes pictures.
Want to help some much less fortunate people across the globe without spending a single dime of your own? Go to www.freerice.com and spend a little time expanding your vocabulary while helping feed the destitute. It automatically adjusts for all ages/levels so it's something the whole family can be a part of.
Yes, if the young man in the photo can afford a cell phone, it seems that then he should be enterprising enough to not have to be homeless. But we have no idea what his current situation is, so let's be kind and focus on the point of this post -- test your word power and help feed the world, one bowl of rice at a time!
Man isn’t it obvious that if this guy gave up the phone, which probably came free with his plan, and then cut the $30 per month fee for it he could afford an apartment?
You are right - he may have just lost a job and needs something to eat - I won’t make fun of that. There is also the possibility that he heard Omarosa was in there and ducked in to get a pic.
freerice.com = liberal feelgood nonsense.
How about if I just work a little extra and increase the amount I put in the collection plate on Sunday?
Oh, but then the charity would be associated with the Lord, and the political payola to the liberals doing the free rice distribution would disappear.
Poor In America?
Many a visitor to our nation has wondered how the poorest of Americans are among the fattest of people in all the world.
Poverty is relative. I remember reading decades ago in “Newsweek” that before WWII, half of the homes in the US had no refrigerator. We are wealthy now even compared to our great grandparents.
Also, as the article implies, enormous numbers of children in third world countries die of measles, diarrhea and other simple illnesses due to malnutrition. It’s difficult for us to imagine being poor in a third world nation.
Healthy eating cost money which is why the poor tend to be fat...you can be fat and malnourished by the way.
>> the poorest of Americans are among the fattest of people in all the world.
Nice tennis shoes, too. But you Rich People are incapable of understanding how important nice tennies are to a victim’s self-esteem.
In other countries poor people starve to death. Ours are fat.
In other countries poor people have no electricity, clean water or shoes. Ours have color TV’s, microwaves, X-Boxes and Air Jordans.
In other countries poor people would literally give their arm to be poor in America.
the poor have full refrigerators. They make lousy buying decisions. bad decisions is why many of them are poor in the first place. Even a real homeless adult man in Texas can get $85-$100 a month in food stamps. If they don’t like the food at the shelters on a particular day they can buy a sandwich and a soda instead.
How does he charge it up?????? At the homeless shelter?
The Smelly One will make sure we are just as poor as the other’s around the globe in no time flat! Think GLOBAL POVERTY PLAN where he will be STEALING from us to give to others also.
My thoughts on this are Baloney Mexico imports it’s poor while our jobs go there same with many other countries.
I think if the *only* thing you do is go to freerice, then you’re not doing all you can.
We know that liberals give less of their income percentage-wise to charity (I haven’t heard about time-wise, but I wouldn’t be surprised if conservatives give more of that too) AND they’re doing their best to bring down faith-based organizations.
But I figure every little bit helps, and my kids improve their vocabularies at the same time...
Okay,if he’s poor and homeless where do they send the bill?
