A new article in the Journal of Experimental psychology makes the case that Sarah Palin's looks -- and the focus on them -- hurt her and John McCain in November's election.

“McCain” is what undermined Palin.
My girlfriend (at the time) was exactly like that. She couldn't stand it when Palin winked cuz she knew it was cute.
Thanks for posting. Telling. Go Sarah!
Um, I could think of many things but not her looks, smile or wit.
Sarah has forgotten more than most in Washington ever new. Obama included
Palin was hurt by the unrelenting bias and hatred of the leftist/socialist media and culture and the wussiness of the Republicans and McCain to fight back like real men.
The Dim Dhims attacked constantly. Why didn’t we attack right back twice as hard and twice as relentlessly?
Why didn’t we fight their constant lies and slander?
Weakness kills.
Finding yet ANOTHER way to attack Sarah
her looks hurt me so good
if only more women in the US looked like her, and less like helen thomas or hillary clinton
Sarah has natural beauty, both inside and out, something the majority of libs will never have and will never understand. That is why liberal women hate her, they are jealous of her beauty, success, strong moral compass, and wonderful family.
What hurt was trying to carry that old coot across the finish line.
I didn’t like the wink. It got annoying after a while.
But I like Palin and her message and her general demeaner. I do think that women that are too pretty get short shrift ... in a lot of professions. People (men and women) tend not to take them seriously even if they are really smart and capable.
lol
Was it fair or rational? No -- but that's what happened.
You know that the wussiness of the Republicans and McCain may have cost Sarah even more. They were the ones who put the clamps on Sarah so she could not attack Obama with everything she had on the Messiah.
Eventually, contrary to popular belief, I think Sarah overcame the ridicule and vilification of the MSM, for the most part, but like a boxer who landed punches and scored points she was not permitted to land the knockout punch, thus allowing Obama to survive the 15 rounds and win on a decision. In retrospect, for McCain to win he had to land the knockout blow. That he and his staff would not permit the punch even to be attempted was a dereliction of duty and a betrayal of those who donated his campaign and eventually voted for the McCain-Palin ticket.
This is subliminal suggestion by the MSM. They are scared stiff that HOTTIE Sarah will clobber drug addicted half-breed Eclair in 2012. They need to fill people’s heads with this crap to place doubt about her.
I agree. I’m a male, but if I see a woman who is impossibly good looking and seems to get by on looks alone, I lose a lot of respect for her. I mean, she has every right to use what she’s got, but that doesn’t mean I’ve got to drool all over her like everyone else. Maybe I’ll drool in private, but wouldn’t give her the satisfaction of drooling in front of her. LOL.
I’m not saying any of this is true about Sarah Palin, however.
In fact I sort of enjoyed looking at a politician for a change.
Hm. Maybe if she only did it once or twice. After a while, though, it was simply irritating.
