...Some legislators in Michigan have proposed a law that prohibits establishment of sanctuary cities in Michigan in HOUSE BILL No. 404. The Bill is called the "Sanctuary Policy Prohibition Act".
It says that the governing body of a local unit of government can't enact or enforce any law, ordinance, policy, or rule that limits or prohibits a peace officer or local official, officer, or an employee from communicating or cooperating with appropriate federal local unit of government regarding a person's legal immigration status if they are suspected of being in the US illegally.
It also defines the powers and duties of certain local officers, officials, and employees. It creates certain reporting requirements, and it enacts penalties for non-compliance with the law.
The law also requires that a peace officer, who has probable cause to believe that an individual under arrest is not legally present in the United States, to report that individual to the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office for further investigation...

I was at a restaurant last night for my daughter’s birthday. The owner was telling one of his Hispanic workers that he had looked at his farm back in Mexico on Google Earth.
Our Walmart is going to be like a ghost town!

It’s aimed at illegal aliens. Whatever group that consists of is their problem.
It’s about time Michigan got wise that illegals are taking jobs away from Americans not just in Michigan but everywhere! There should be a national law that says no city in America should be a sanctuary city for illegals and no state either and if it does then they should receive no federal money none nada zip!

um.... so the MADE A LAW that says the cities MUST OBEY THE LAW?

How about just throwing people in jail who don’t obey the EXISTING laws?

One would imagine that this bill doesn’t even have a snowball’s chance in hell, under the current state political alignment. The hope would be that the good people of Michigan come to their senses and elect a Republican governor and legislature next year.
I think we’ve got a shot at least at the guv.
