Admiral Mike Mullen Says He is Comfortable with Obama Iraq Withdrawal Plan - Video 3/1/09

Here is video of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff - Admiral Mike Mullen - talking with CNN's John King yesterday about President Obama's timeline for withdrawal of all U.S. "Combat" Troops from Iraq. Mullen says he is very comfortable with the plan decided on, and that Obama did listen to his commanders in the field in making this decision.

It is hilarious to me that Obama is touting the withdrawal of all "combat" troops by August 2010 to cover himself on his campaign pledge to pull out of Iraq. The only thing is, he is leaving 50,000 Troops in Iraq past the deadline! Now, don't get me wrong. That's a good thing - we should leave troops in Iraq to maintain the gains made at heavy cost. But this is a classic example of how Obama will say he is doing one thing and actually be doing something else. This sleight of hand is working for him right now, partially because there is no objective press corps to call him on these obvious contradictions. . . . . . . (Watch Video)

Flag officers are very good at agreeing with the boss - it’s pretty much of a requirement on the way up.

Mullen is the dimwit who said “diversity is a strategic imperative”. He’s such a politician.

So Obama takes the two security agreements already in place by Bush and the Iraqi government which outline the withdrawal of troops and calls it his plan?

Don’t assume that the military will always be on our side...

We don’t have 4 years, not even close...

Since it is essentially the plan negotated by President Bush I can’t see why there would not be agreement.

The fact is that the situation on the ground will determine the final number of troops in Iraq.

I just got back from Iraq in December after 10 months. not much going on there, I don’t see much need in us being there much longer especially after the success we have had. however I do not like advertizing DATES!

Yes, Iraq has been "home away from home" for a long time now and things have definitely improved - drastically.

However, Diyala and Nineveh provinces are still rough and al Qaeda is still pulling off terror attacks there. I agree that giving the terrorists a timetable is a stupid idea and one that the Democrats have been embracing even in the days when things were absolutely insane.

Mullen is a toady. Any military officer who is more concerned about time tables than winning is unfit for service. I don’t see the Army brass jumping up and down for joy and its their men women who are actually closing with the enemy. They’re keeping their mouths shut.

At some point one or more of these four stars is going to put his country ahead of his career and say “Enough!” “ I resign”.

Until that happens, Obama will wreck the military and turn it into the Carter military and everyone will wonder how it happened.

Someone needs to educate America about “The Pusan Perimeter” and “Pearl Harbor”. Too bad the schools don’t do that any more.
