GOP Chairman Michael Steele Calls Limbaugh Comments "Incendiary and Ugly" - Video 2/28/09

Here is video of Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele talking with CNN's D.L. Hughley last night, and calling comments made by Rush Limbaugh during his speech to CPAC "incendiary and ugly." Steele said Limbaugh is not the de facto leader of the Republican Party, and that he is an "entertainter."

This is exactly the point Rush Limbaugh was trying to make in his speech. Republicans need to stop worrying about what the D.L. Hughley's think! They will never like conservatives or Republicans, because they are liberals! Steele should not have disavowed, in effect, what Rush said. He should have hammered home the core principles set forth by Limbaugh in his speech. . . . . (Watch Video)

The spelling is “cojones” not “cajones.”

Cajones is a word but means something entirely different.

My best regards.

Anyone surprised by this has not looked into Michael Steele's past remarks. In his defense, I will say that he is probably every bit the modern-day Republican that John McCain is.

I had considered going back to the GOP because of Sarah Palin, but past history told me that the big fish would continue to be servile to the appeasement and cocktail set. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me 27 times, shame on me.

Annie, you have said something that really resonates with me. It's like they have two faces, one for the constituency and one for the beltway and the media. Which one is real? How are we to know. I think Palin made a good decision when she choose not to attend the CPAC. I watched a little of it and I was not moved, swayed, convinced of anything other than we're going to get more of the same. Talk is cheaper than ever now. If the GOP can't stand the truth maybe it's time for the GOP to go away.

"Just when I think returning to the GOP might be a good idea, I hear crap like this."

I am not exactly a Rush Limbaugh fan, but Michael Steele just doesn't get what the general GOP voter is thinking. By also forcing out Sarah Palin people, they are going to repeat 2008.

I want to pull up those Michael Steele defender threads and line you asshats up so you can get yer reckoning.

Calling me racist and all that usual tripe from the PC corner here.

FR has gotten really weird.

Steele enthusiasm was about as uninformed as saying all the 2008 polls were bogus and if you questioned that logic you were defeatist

or that letting in 30 million illegal brown folks who have a history of supporting Democrats here won’t matter....and opposing that was racist too of course....everything for the brainwashed PC phalangist here is race or redress for it....just like Dems.

You know who you are, I sure do. You need to be purged from Conservatism

A ship of fools even here and we are listing baby.

Hope someone is paying attention.

He'll probably give the usual portion of OUR money to Snowe, Collins, Spectre and McCain, anyhow.

PROBABLY?????? Whatever $ the RNC has will be dedicated to re-electing those 4 and other RINOs at the expense of conservatives. Why a conservative gives a penny to the GOP organizations instead of individual candidates has to mean that the IQ of some conservatives is well below room temperature. It isn't like the GOP hasn't proven it by their past REPEATED actions.

“Screw Michael Steele.”

I think Michael just took care of that himself. Bottom line is, Michael Steele is a lightweight, intellectually. And we cannot afford another ‘phony not-really-a-conservative’ type who cannot talk. Isn’t there someone on our side who can simply talk? Not a communicator in the bunch, what a collection of stiffs.

Rush disagrees with Newt. Steele picks a fight with Rush. Do we have a cohesive political party here? No. But we knew that.

Steele clearly doesn’t identify with conservative values, as least in public. Newt’s time has come and gone but his essential philosophy is still good. I support Rush’s viewpoints fully, but he will never be a candidate for anything nor should he be.

Steele doesn’t seem to fit with true Conservatives. He and McCain can keep the GOP. We need a Conservative Party that believes in both Rush’s evangelism and Newt’s policy fundamentals.

Can either Romney or Palin fill this role? At this moment I have my doubts.

We need new Conservative blood. Where could it possibly come from?

That’s funny, Mr.Steele, as I watched Rush yesterday I was wondering WHY CAN’T RUSH RUN FOR PRESIDENT? He is a leader. He truly is a patriot, on loan from GOD. I can’t believe Steele said those things about Rush. That pretty much takes care of any hopeful and changeful things happening in the RNC. NO MONEY FOR YOU, Mr.Steele. No soup either.

All I'm saying is in my opinion the image of Rush comes off differently on TV than when I listen to him on the radio. He appears ill at ease. His comments were spot on and were eaten up by the conservative crowd but his performance was not at the same level as his radio show. He didn't always finish every point he was making as he was jumping around to much. Just exerting my freedom of speech something I thought all conservative here believed in.

“Free Republic has gotten really weird.”

Well, understand that there is a comprehensive effort by the opposition to troll this site, and other conservative sites. So some of this crap is bs to begin with. But I agree with you that too many FR people are ‘dumbing down’. Amazing, and incredibly disappointing.

"Steele knew perfectly well what he was doing."

If so, things are not going to be pretty for the Republican Party for a while.

He’s in the Chairman’s position for a month, and he’s already turning off Conservatives. Way to go Mike! Go play nicey-nice with the Left, but you’ll do it without our support.

“All I’m saying is in my opinion the image of Rush comes off differently on TV.....”

Who the hell cares? “He appears ill at ease”? Are you kidding me? That was one of the most confident political speeches I have seen in years. Screw this ‘style over substance’ bs, and screw this ‘oh, the women will be intimidated by a confident man speaking his mind’ bs. Because that’s exactly what you are saying.

I’ve not heard of the Falcon Party, but the website looks right. We have been looking at The Constitution Party and The American Independent Party (http://www.aipca.org/). The problems lies within the fact that there are too many choices. If America is going to win this war for it’s survival, “we the people” are going to have to agree and a platform and a party in unison, or we will have a debacle like the last election with several candidates running against the Communist, and with conservatives making excuses for splitting the vote based on personal preferences and not on the needs of the nation.
