Here is video of Rep. Tom Tancredo assessing the performance the other night of Gov. Bobby Jindal in giving the GOP Response to President Barack Obama's address. In short, Tancredo says Jindal's content was great but his delivery was lousy. In fact, he says it was so lousy that his performance may have "put the last nail in the coffin" on his chances of becoming President. Tancredo says Jindal is a great intellect but did not show himself to be a "leader" in his speech.
Tancredo believes Gov. Mitt Romney is best positioned now to lead the GOP forward in 2012. Tancredo made the comments during an interview at CPAC today, February 26, 2009.
As I said the other night, I believe Jindal's content was great but his delivery certainly could have been better. But I just don't think that speech will end Jindal's chances for the Presidency. He still has a very bright future, and could be the next GOP President in 2016 if not in 2012. Remember, everyone laughed off Bill Clinton after his disastrous speech at the Democratic Convention in 1988 that went on and on and on. But four years later, he became President. Four years is a very long time in politics. I would not count Jindal out just yet. . . . . (Watch Video)

Who can stand in front of a camera with no audience and rebut the sitting President who had two cheerleaders sitting behind and to the right and left of him, over his shoulders? Pelosi was a jill in the box, jumping up and clapping like a child at a birthday party.
Gov Jindal did fine for where he was and what he had to say.
But I’d have preferred Gov Palin . . . she’s an exciting speaker and leader.
Gotta write Michael Steele (my parents live in Maryland and my Dad says he’s a solid conservative Republican) about that, I guess.
Romney is too 2008. His chance was then, not now and not in the future, other than holding a Cabinet Post. He should work FOR younger Republican leaders to get the nod to be the Republican Presidential Elect in 2012 and make himself invaluable as an adviser to Republican candidates.
Tancredo afraid of the big bad Jindal?
Starting early aren’t we?
Now... count me one of those who think the speech was a big old flop, but this is going WAY too far. First of all, forget four yearsfour WEEKS is a long time in politics these days. Secondly, there was no disastrous sound bite for the media to use against him for years to come. It was the overall tone that was the problem, and overall tone is way too vague too ruin a career. Thirdly, and most importantly, Jindal has infinite opportunities to live this downbecause hes a man with a real job who will continue to be visible for things that matter. At 37, with the intellect and resume he has already (and the wit and charm Ive seen him display on other occasions), he has time to polish his delivery.
He didn’t read the spendilous bill, and he probably didn’t hear the speech.
Oh, and if this party is even thinking about nominating waffly old Mitt “Plastic” Romney 2012, it’s too stupid to run the country anyway.
But he WAS born in the United States, right?
I’m asking seriously. I have been assuming he was, but I really don’t know.
Not to mention a coward, eh, ;>
You know what they say: You don’t HAVE to be a Rhodes Scholar to be an evil illuminati conspirator, but it HELPS!!
;^)
that’s why I want Palin/Jindal in 2012
Does Palin have the stature to look Presidential. Is she quick and could fire up the base. No! She is one of the best Governors and conservatives in the US now. I have great admiration for this women.
Ok, where do we go. Nothing on the horizon looks Presidential, speaks Presidential, and has total conservative principals to get a Republican. Everyone bitches on way or another on anyone that could run. That is why Obama won was the lack to get behind McCain even if we did not go with all his policies. Look where we are now. I could say more, but its like talking to our brain dead.
I guess this means Tancredo is running again!
Romney my a**. Palin and Jindal are the two best hopes we have for the republican party. Granted, Jindal didn’t speak well tuesday night, but he can fix that. I have never been impressed with his speaking ability but really like his conservative ideas and the content of tuesdays speech. Romney is a dead duck and another sure loss for conservatives!
Oh, did I leave that out? I’m sorry.
Yes, definitely. Also a coward.
;^)
Jindal claims to have been born in Louisiana, but I have not seen a birth certificate.
However, there are many who cite common law which states that in order to be a natural born citizen, both parents must have been U.S. citizens at the time of a person’s birth.
And everyone thought Bill Clinton’s speech to the 1988 Democratic convention was terrible. It ran so long, that when he addressed the 1992 convention, he started by saying “thanks for inviting me back to finish my speech” or similar words.
Frankly, I haven’t talked to one person — outside of political wonks — who watched his speech. The only people who watch the rebuttals are the political junkies who are almost never swayed...they’re Dems or Reps and vote straight ticket. No one in the broad middle who only pays attention in election season watch the opposing responses.
Hey, it looks good on any resume, and I do hear that it cuts down on the quota of innocent civilians you need to have killed in order to be accepted as a loyal illuminatus.
In fact, he says it was so lousy that his performance may have “put the last nail in the coffin” on his chances of becoming President.
Tancredo should know a little about the ‘coffin nails’ based upon his policital wins/losses. One speech isn’t a make or break this far out for someone aged 37.
Yes.
It’s 5 instead of 50, or something like that, right?
We are presently in "rebuild" and they want to start dumping Conservatives overboard.
Is it possible we have a new pool of RINOs to fight?
