Hear Britney Spears lipsyning with music track removed. Cover your ears. Hilarious.

Pretty bad.
However, let's also bear in mind she's running around a stage doing a zillion acrobatics, and that doesn't go well with singing.
Besides, I'd hit it.

I always wondering how someone could be dancing around a stage, which is a very physical workout (think aerobics), and not be breathless. LOL on me, I thought these young-uns' were just very well-conditioned!

Somehow I am willing to bet, with notable exceptions, that most of today’s ‘Pop Singers’ sound bloody awful outside the recording studio. The exceptions would be the performers who do live solo acts with just a microphone. If you appreciate modern technology, see what goes into the making of a modern song-track, it is like what Bismark said about making sausage, you will never look at the end product in the same way again!

Wow. Couple of things come to mind after listening to this.
1. Somebody within the production company is SERIOUSLY pissed off with Spears to allow this to get out. The plain truth is you can do with with any singer that has complex dance routines. As Elton John noted a few years ago about Maddonna getting nominated for ‘Best Live Performance’ - ‘Is this some kind of a joke? Madonna hasn’t sung live since 1992...’
2. Who knew Britney Spears did the audio for her send up in ‘Meet the Spartans’?
Final note. You can be a horrific singer, and a complete nutcase, if you can look that good while doing so.

I’m reminded of Lewis Black’s little anecdote. “I was sitting in front of the TV, and Britney Spears was on. So I took a pen, and I shoved it in my ear. But that didn’t help because I could hear her out of the other one.”

If she showed up at an American Idol audition where she had to sing acapella in disguise, she would be told to not give up her day job.

You can put cheap digital delay on a voice and it makes it sound a lot better. The more expensive technology can make a bad voice sound fairly good.
