Farrah Fawcett. Red swimsuit. Blonde hair. More teeth than is anatomically possible. Oooooh, that poster.

Fawcett is now suing the pants off Bio-Graphics Inc., Pie International Inc. and T.N. Trikilis, accusing them of claiming they own exclusive rights to the photo, reproducing it and selling it. She’s demanding $100,000.

Fawcett swears up and down that she “owns and possesses all the photographs and negatives of all the photographs taken at the photo shoot.”

We’re showing you the poster in question, knowing full well that it’s virtually impossible for any man who grew up in the 70s to wipe it from his memory. Even if he wanted to.

There wasn't a mens dorm room in the mid 1970s without that poster on half of the walls.

My brother in law gave me a 365 day calendar with that artist a few years ago, after about mid Feb my boss dropped by everyday to chat for a minute to two.

True, Foxy. Still, Pam wasn’t promoted heavily as a mainstream sex symbol. These days it’s all good.

I always thought she was highly overrated.

And I still do.

Not attractive at all.

Only thing I can figure is that when the media tells the public over and over again, that someone is absolutely gorgeous, the public believes it.

It must have something to do with genetics: that is, people must be programmed to see as sexy what they are persuaded everybody else finds sexy.

Such genetic programming would help insure that by having offspring from a mate that everyone else seems to desire, will help insure one’s offspring will not lack for the best mates in their generation.

Anyway, I see with my eyes, and I think she's pretty hideous.

Bony sack of stringy tendons with sandpaper complexion, chemical hair, and beady little eyes set in a face with too many sharp corners.

Yuck.

I agree with your last point - I know many women prettier than many women pushed as mainstream sex symbols these days. Many cocktail waitresses at a casino are better looking than many sex symbols. You are right.

That being said, I do think the suits had a problem with promoting a black mainstream sex symbol in that era. That’s a facet of bigotry, no doubt in my mind.

That poster was EVERYWHERE!
Every girl wanted that “feathered” hairdo, too.

I have to admit, I never had the hots for Farrah Fawcett. I always thought she was way over rated and I hated her puffy blown out hair styles.

Farrah was a beauty in her day, but time sure catches us all! Boy, I miss those days! Times have surely changed, but not for the better!

Did you go to a Catholic school in the 1950s like I did? Sure sounds like it.

There’s a lady at work, who’s probably in her 50s, with ‘Farrah Fawcett Hair’. I bet she’s had it that way for 30 years.

That borders on FReeper sacrelige.

(Ann is popular because in addition to being a tall, leggy blonde, she is also a conservative intellectual unafraid to use her acerbic wit to eviscerate liberals in public, often violating unspoken, liberal-imposed "you can't SAY that" rules, thereby widening the bounds of discourse for the rest of us...)

And did I mention she's a leggy blonde? If Helen Thomas said the same things Ann did, she still wouldn't have attained nearly the same popularity.

...NOW I've done it. Mentioned them both in the same post. Let's see whose picture gets posted first...

Cheers!
