Poll Finds Consumer Confidence At Record Low

A recent Rasmussen poll taken after the passage of the economic stimulus bill found that consumer confidence has fallen to another record low.

The Rasmussen Consumer Index, which measures consumer confidence on a daily basis, fell two points on Sunday and another point yesterday to 55.7. This is the third time in February that the daily Consumer Index has fallen to a record low.

Confidence is down a point from a week ago, down six points from a month ago and 31 points since the financial industry meltdown began in mid-September.

The poll is derived from nightly telephone interviews and is reported on a three-day rolling average basis. This was the first based entirely on interviews conducted since the House of Representatives passed the economic stimulus plan. Some of the interviews were completed before Senate passage of the legislation on Friday night.

Only 8 percent of American adults now rate the economy as good or excellent while 67 percent rate it as poor. Just before Lehman Brothers collapsed last September, 18 percent rated the economy as good or excellent.

When Hope and Change becomes Doom and Gloom, then becomes Crisis and Catastrophe, all preached by the Messiah, confidence will be down. Go figure.

Buyers remorse.

Consumers have very little change to believe in, apparently, or spend for that matter.

On the same day that Congress has a new approval rating of 31%?

At least one of these polls is BS.

There are NO sales out there yet. Everyone is sitting on their inventory and not discounting. I went to Best Buy to check out flat screen tvs and they are the same price as pre-Christmas.

I figure I should get a good 42" 1080 LCD for about $500 by July.

Anyways, that's my deflated price and I'm holding off until it reaches my level of "value>" I've always 'shopped' like this. I wait them out.

“Didn’t we pass the porkulus bill”?

...I prefer Laura Ingram’s “Spendulous” term! And BTW. Consumer confidence is about to get lower. The only people that’ll be left on the “BO Train” to hell after this atrocity is signed will be poor blacks with their hands still stuck out in front of them.

Anyone with an IQ above the temp in Alaska in winter has ZERO confidence in Obama. Business people know he is the worst nightmare to ever happen to this country. He is chavez and Mugabe rolled into one.

LOL. Me too. Let the early-adopters eat the R&D costs.
