spectator.org AND Stimulus Watch ^ | Matthew Vadum

With a new president ensconced in the White House, it's time to roll out the goodies for loyal supporters in left-of-center political advocacy groups such as ACORN.

The latest economic stimulus bill promises to do just that by providing a huge bailout --up to $5.2 billion in taxpayer funds -- for some of the same liberal groups that helped get Barack Obama elected.

“* ACORN could receive up to $4 billion under the economic stimulus legislation approved by the House of Representatives.
* ACORN has received an estimated $53 million in government funds since its founding in 1970.
* ACORN is under investigation in at least 14 states in connection with allegations of voter registration fraud in the 2008 campaign.

ACORN claims to represent low-income workers but does not pay its own employees the minimum wage and in 1995 sued California for an exemption from its minimum wage requirement.

A multi-million dollar liberal non-profit activist conglomerate reportedly under federal investigation may get a big piece of the economic recovery stimulus pie now under consideration by Congress.”

I can’t remember where I got this, but it is an OUTRAGE!!!!

I don’t think it’s buried at all. But it’s in there.

Vitter and others certainly tried to get a lot of special interest money taken out, but each motion was rejected.

What an uphill battle this will be.

That is simply hilarious. There will be NO MORE free elections in the United States.

It's over if we accept this.

My fear is that ACORN will be contracted to run the 2010 census.

ACORN??? What a disturbing article and post, ugh. What has happened here? Someone has to get rid of those 3 (alleged) Republican Senators that voted for this (alleged) Stimulus Bill.
