Cash is a beautiful German shepherd with kind eyes, a shiny coat and separation anxiety.

To help her 80-pound sweetheart of a dog with his issues, canine behavior counselor Carrie Bowlus hooks him to a harness and has Cash pull a modified goat cart around the city of Loveland.

Very cool cart! Is this really just a goat cart, because it looks very fancy! I'd love to have a good cart for my dog - but that can definitely hold 2 ADULTS. I'd think a GS could pull at least 1 adult; what good is it otherwise?

I don't think it is the cart but the hard exercise.....I always say a good dog is a tired dog.....

I am happy the owner has resolved her pooches problems.....

OK. Looks cool. MY dogs would love it.....however, I think this lady is putting far too much into the psychoanalyzing of this...

The dog is tired. Pooped. Tired dogs are GOOD dogs!

Of course, this is in my never so humble opinion. :)

Funny thing is, I was thinking of Cesar Milan when reading this - the dog NEEDS A JOB. He is a restless German Shepherd who must have those traits coming out. She’s given him a job, even more than just exercise. He has a purpose.

Dear FRiends,

In light of what is transpiring in our nation's capitol tonight, more than ever, we need to ensure that places like Free Republic and other like-minded places continue to speak the plain truth. Newspapers are dying and the current administation will either bail them out or allow them to fail. If they are bailed out, they will be even more beholding to the coming socialist agenda. If they are allowed to fail, the powers that be will force the remaining electronic media to fill the void. Local coverage only. No national syndicated news/talk. The "Fairness Doctrine", like it or not.

After that, the internet. Free Republic. And others.

We need to get this FReepathon over and right now. We need to show that we are serious and will continue forward and thrive, not just survive.

If you can spare a couple of bucks, that would be great...If not, God bless you and please stop by the FReepathon thread and give it a bump.

We're all in this together.

Our baby is in training to be a service dog. SHE needed a job horribly.

Shall I post pictures of the chewed wallboard, the eaten sofa, the various and sundry “yummy tasting” furniture....?

:)

She did all of this within a couple weeks time. El Pronto, we got someone to work with us for BOTH of them...but she in particular. It’s amazing the change it’s made in her.

Exercise works for kids, too. Mine were never so well behaved as during swim season. What with practice 5 nights a week, they were just too worn out to fight.

Works for older kids as well.

I used it on myself up until age 26-28. It’s the only thing that kept me sane in college. ONce I wore out my joints enough that I could’t punish them anymore, I was in deep doo doo until my nerves finally settled down around age 30-32.

I hear you on that. My two eldest were swimmers....the whole family was tired....I was never so glad when they were able to drive themselves to those early morning practices.....

Dogs definitely need jobs. My 16 year old who is now almost deaf has now positioned herself near the front door so she can guard by sight not hearing. I had to buy her a heated bed because she refuses to lie somewhere warmer.

Yes, but it can also take a lot of effort on your part as well. Which is where MY philosophy of child care comes from, involving velcro, duct tape, and bubble wrap.

For some reason, none of my friends have ever asked me to babysit more than once...

Years ago my now ex husband and I modified a red flyer wagon and hooked our crazy shepherd to it. I’d put my kid in the wagon and off we’d go. Worked great until that one summer day that the dog was hot and tired and jumped in the irrigation ditch, wagon and all! We tried the wagon with our Husky, but we could never get enough weight into it to slow him down.;>)
