Heres a little blurb about the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) from their own website:
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official campaign arm of the Democrats in the House. The DCCC is the only political committee in the country whose principal mission is to support Democratic House candidates every step of the way.
And a little about the head of this committee:
First elected to Congress in a high-profile election in 2002, Chairman [Rep. Chris] Van Hollen [D-MD] is a strong believer in grassroots campaigning. In his 2002 campaign, he built a strong local grassroots network and became one of only two Democratic challengers to unseat a Republican incumbent. He quickly earned a reputation as a giant-slayer in Washington.
Speaker Pelosi has described him as a first-rate thinker and political strategist who knows the policy, politics, and people that are essential to House Leadership. [That is NOT a plus!] The Washington Post described him as an astute lawmaker who has distinguished himself as a shrewd legislative player in Congress. [Neither is this!] The Baltimore Sun and Roll Call newspapers have called him a rising star in Congress and the Democratic Party [Nor this either!].
And, in case youre interested, the DCCC is also engaged in free speech suppression. Fox News reports that the DCCC has launched an on-line petition against Rush Limbaugh for saying on his show last week (correctly, I might add) that he wants Barack Obama to fail.
Thats your Free speech for me, but not for thee Democrats for ya.
Not only is this overt attempt to squelch the free political speech of a private citizen a typically thuggish and Stalinist move, but dizzyingly hypocritical as well. As the Transsylvania Phoenix blog says:
Its funny, when the democrats/liberals insulted and disrespected President Bush in front of the eyes of the world, and did everything in their power to sabotage the war effort in Iraq, and trashed all the Bush polices in order to protect America against terrorism... That was alright, that was good thing. It was patriotic.
But little AM radio host Limbaugh hoping that B.O.s socialist polices fail is a act of treason. Did anyone ever hear Bush tell America, or anyone for that matter not to listen to Chris Matthew, Jon Stewart, Franken, or Keith Olbermann by name?
Yeah, what happened to all that dissent is patriotic rhetoric we were hearing while Democrats bashed the president, our country, and our troops?
For what its worth, heres the comment I submitted to the DCCC blog:
Whats wrong with you people?
If youve been part of the campaign to malign George W. Bush for eight years straight, then you are a Grade A hypocrite.
If youve carried a sign or affixed a bumper sticker reading Not My President, Impeach Bush, No Mandate, 9/11 Was an Inside Job, Bush is a Terrorist, Bush = Hitler, Selected Not Elected, etc., etc., then you are a Grade A hypocrite.
If youve applauded Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, Keith Olbermann, Rosie ODonnell, Chris Matthews, the NY Times, and Air America while they stood athwart every item on the Bush agenda for eight years, you are a Grade A hypocrite.
If youve defended the actions and words of the above-mentioned people by arguing that dissent is patriotic and that Bush-defending Republicans should respect the free speech of all Americans, then you are a Grade A hypocrite.
I and millions of Americans agree with Rush: Damn right we want Obama to fail. We want him to fail in turning this country into a third-world socialist fauxtopia. We want him to fail in stripping this country of every defense against terrorists who want all Americans - liberals and conservatives - dead.
And most importantly, Rush Limbaugh has the First-Amendment-granted right to say it.
Free speech isnt just for liberals, you know.
Thats for all you liberals out there who think its appropriate to attack Rush just because he wont get on the hope and change bandwagon with the rest of you brainless sheep.
And if that wasnt enough to get through to you, I seem to remember this brave quote from a self-described patriotic American:
I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow youre not patriotic. We need to stand up and say: We are Americans and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration!!!
Oh gee, lets see, who said this? That would be Hillary Clinton, during the Bush presidency.
Falling on deaf ears. Dumb and blind too.
Welcome to the future, suckers.
And you keep givin it to em, Rush!
Welcome to FR.
Fascism is about the mildest thing you can say about what Van Hollen thinks ~ the guy would be opening the ovens tomorrow morning if he thought he could get away with it for half a day.
These people are not to be trusted.
I get the DNCC and DCCC e mails and I signed this petition with “Keep it up Rush!!! America needs you now, more than ever!!!”
I e-mailed the DCCC and asked them, when were they going to stop using taxpayers’ money to get re-elected.
