Has Hansen The Weather Clown Been Providing Fraudulent Data To Public?
As DBKP has revealed before, James Hansen of the Goddard Institute For Space Studies (GISS) has been implicated in the recalculation of existing data to make the planet appear warmer than in previous decades. For instance, in one infamous incident, he threw all balloon data regarding temperature out of his historical analysis because it revealed cooler atmospheric temperatures than his theory of Global Warming was comfortable with. You see Hanson needs the world to get continually warmer as CO2 increases if his theories of anthropomorphic global warming are correct. The easiest way to do that is to rewrite past records.
Now there’s been a new development:
In an article entitled “GISS Divergence with satellite temperatures since the start of 2003″ at the site, watts up with that, Steve Goddard and Anthony Watts have found that since 2003, satellite temperature data had begun to diverge with the temperatures reported by GISS, which uses many data points in addition to the satellites. Previously the information matched rather well. So why the difference? Goddard and Watts are now commencing an analysis to find out.
What is the significance? If the satellite trends continue they show a huge temperature drop:
“Since the beginning of 2003,RSS has been dropping at 3.60C/century, UAH has been dropping at 2.84C/century, and GISS has been dropping at 0.96C/century. ”

The glo-bull warming envirowhackos will become even louder and more shrill and push even harder to get the glo-bull warming legislation passed into law before too many of the glo-bull warming believers abandon them.
GISS does not use satellite data; it is based on ground station measurements.
Also, the conclusions between this article and the article that it references are different. This article concludes we are entering a cold phase. The referenced article suggests that the GISS data used by Dr. Hansen is erroneous and unreliable.
The referenced article attributes the difference between the GISS data and satellite data to a loss of ground based measurement stations, particularly in areas where things have been getting colder. Thus there is less weight given to areas getting colder.
Good points but the real issue needs to be to bring out all the relevant data and analyses for the public to understand whether this a settled issue or just a sales pitch; for that we need to examine all points.
Ironically, according to AGW theory, the upper atmosphere should be warming faster and to a greater extent that surface temperatures. Don’t worry, Hansen will figure out some way to adjust that data.
Can we indict Al Gore, for massive fraud? Just asking.
